Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing's Phantom Works (PW) Space group is looking for a Senior Multi-Skill Engineering Manager to lead our Strategic Technologies Development group in El Segundo, CA.

The position is responsible and accountable to the Strategic Technologies Manager.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform activities associated with project and technical leadership on fast paced development proposals, projects, and programs.
  • Manage a functional team that supports a wide range of programs within the Strategic Technologies group that supports PW Space and other Boeing businesses.
  • Responsibility, Authority, and Accountability (RAA) to hire as needed to meet program staffing demands.
  • Responsible for the Technical, Programmatic and Operational Oversight of the Advanced Technology Development group, part of the PW Space Strategic Intelligence group.
  • Responsible for management and oversight of a multi-disciplined fast-paced business group responsible for new business development, pursuit, capture, and execution of advanced technologies and systems programs to support a wide range of customer mission objectives.
  • Frequent interaction with both internal and external customer representatives concerning operations, scheduling, or specific phases of projects or contracts.
  • Interface and work with multiple Boeing sites and business units with the ultimate objective of integrating and transitioning Boeing advanced technology products into new systems in support of highly classified DoD and Intelligence Community missions.
  • Manage employees performing activities with multiple technical/engineering disciplines.
  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goals.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports as well as provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Responsible for proposal management and development and must have a strong understanding of the Government System Acquisition Process as well as Boeing’s Integrated Business Acquisition Process.
  • Program oversight and management of allocated New Business Funds (B&P, IR&D) supporting business opportunities.
  • Understand the working environment of Special Access Programs to include facilities, infrastructure and staff and includes the indirect oversight of special security and Information Technology supporting personnel.
  • Display skills to lead efforts to define and execute implementation plans, as well as negotiate and build consensus across a diverse team of assigned personnel.
  • Responsible for forecasting resource needs for the Development group in the Strategic Technologies team, obtain and manage personnel, facilities, services, equipment, and tools to meet project and daily operating requirements.
  • Acquire personnel and other resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers, and lead process improvements.
  • Coach, counsel, mentor, motivate and provide developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities.
  • Ensure mission area goals and objectives align with the PW culture and company vision/strategy and create competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering and/or a Technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in engineering and/or organizational leadership/program management.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 14+ years of related experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience in Engineering and/or Program Management leadership positions.
  • Design and development experience on rapid development or prototyping, ideally with space systems.
  • Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
