Position Summary:

The strategic mission of the Senior Systems Application Engineer-Packaged Systems is to serve as a pivotal bridge between engineering, field operations/project development, new product development and systems engineering, leveraging specialized expertise to deliver optimal results. They have an appropriate mix of systems knowledge in packaged pump system engineering for custom commercial HVAC, plumbing, and industrial businesses. Through continuous learning and application of critical engineering skills, this role crafts innovative solutions, enhances operational efficiency, and drives business growth. They are the department’s lead on Taco Comfort Solutions’ complex product/system application offerings and develop processes to optimize Taco’s level and quality of deploying solutions.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Project Engineering

  • Advanced engineering support to customers regarding complex field issues, product integrations, project conversions/upgrades, and initial design/development of a project.
  • Operates engineering system equipment, vibration analyzers, data acquisition and visualization tools, and test equipment to support project design, operations, and troubleshooting of systems.
  • Leads design reviews, analyses, site visits, project definition and execution of complex product applications for designed systems and large projects. This includes design logic and calculated analysis of controls/automation, fluid system and heat transfer product/system integrations.
  • Works with a team of sales engineers for the design, development and estimating/costing of packaged solutions.

Controls/Automation

  • Develops a detailed sequence of operations for Taco’s system solutions, optimizing the process for product integration into customer applications.
  • Supports new project developments and technical reviews, contributing to product applications relying on project design specifications and driving product integration.
  • Designs hardware automation and software-hardware integration for complex applications.
  • Utilizes control theory and logic to design, consult, and implement high-level applications to solve complex customer problems on an as needed basis.

Engineering Support

  • Utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) and simulation software such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to apply complex analyses on commercial products and drive solutions for field applications and issues.
  • Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team capable of executing static, dynamic, fatigue, thermal and vibration analysis and testing, as well as product testing and field support.
  • Supports critical product demonstration for complex designed products to customers.
  • Collaborates between multiple dynamic teams ranging from field sales, field engineers, and product engineers.
  • Supports and develops team members through coaching and mentoring.

Application Engineering / Field Operations

  • Researches, replicates, diagnoses, troubleshoots, and identifies solutions to resolve technical company product and complex system application issues.
  • Collaborates with engineering test lab and product engineering to diagnose and find root cause of field issues, developing action plans of resolution to field issues.
  • Identifies and quantifies insights buried in data by applying creative problem solving, data exploration, and quantitative analytical skills.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • 10+ years of HVAC/Plumbing engineering industry experience
  • 10+ years of high-level sales experience with significant area responsibilities
  • Expertise in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and SolidWorks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Business Intelligence, and Dynamics, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of packaged pump system engineering, system design, centrifugal pumps, and pump related processes, systems, and procedures
  • Deep knowledge of commercial products, plumbing, HVAC, and Industrial products
  • Multiple channel commercial sales experience
  • Experience working with mechanical engineers and contractors at a senior level
  • Ability to present technical aspects of complex products and troubleshoot product issues for clients
  • High level of financial and business acumen
  • Excellent verbal, written, and public presentation skills, particularly with C-Suite

Work Environment

This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology.  Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent.  Safety gear is required in these areas.

This position reports into the site every workday and may be able to work from home on an ad hoc basis.

This position reports on-site for all scheduled shifts.
