Job Description

As a Design Engineer you will coordinate engineering design tasks for client and company requirements in support of Fugro operations. The ideal candidate will design new or modified products and equipment, ensuring the company provides high-quality design engineering services to maintain its leading industry role. Reporting directly to the Design Engineering Team Lead, this role involves collaborating with other discipline engineers, project managers, and the draughting team to design, develop, and deliver technical solutions globally.

In this role, the you will be responsible for creating detailed designs of ROV intervention tooling and project-specific equipment, ensuring compliance with departmental procedures and applicable codes and standards. This includes performing engineering design verification and validation through rigorous analysis, calculations, and the development of associated design documentation such as test procedures and manuals. You will also take ownership of and adhere to the engineering design process for assigned projects, ensuring all activities are carried out with the highest regard for health and safety and environmental protection.

The Design Engineer will provide technical support and liaise with workshop, procurement, and operational teams to ensure smooth project delivery. They will also interact with clients to understand their needs and provide engineering solutions that meet their requirements. The role involves contributing to commercial activities, such as providing input to tenders by reviewing scopes of work, creating concept designs, and preparing cost, time, and resource estimates.

Who we’re looking for:

You should have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent field, with intermediate experience in the technical discipline and foundation-level management experience. Proficiency in designing mechanical, hydraulic, and electric equipment and applying various engineering analysis techniques and calculations is essential.

The ideal candidate must prioritise health and safety, environmental protection, and adherence to engineering design processes. They will provide technical support, liaise with clients and suppliers, and contribute to tenders with concept designs and cost estimates.

Additionally, the candidate should have advanced knowledge of engineering disciplines related to the subsea or a related industry and demonstrate a commitment to operational excellence.
