Job Description
The Food Processing Equipment Mechanic.( also known as the Sr Equipment Maintenance Team Member) is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and preventative maintenance of industrial food production equipment, facilities, and ensuring food production proceeds safely and efficiently. Sr Equipment Maintenance TM will work closely with facility leadership, production, and sanitation on a daily basis.
Experience in the Food Manufacturing industry is required.
Compensation is based on experience $24-$39 an hour.
This is an in-person position at the Whole Foods Market FL Bakehouse in Pompano Beach, FL.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance tasks, preventive maintenance tasks, supervise maintenance TMs on basic facility maintenance.
- Maintain and order parts and reconcile packaging slips with invoices in preparation for payment.
- Coordinate outside contractors, as needed, to perform needed repairs.
- Maintain inventory of basic parts.
- Responsible for upkeep of basic painting and building maintenance.
- Inspect and diagnose problems and determine the best way to correct them, frequently checking blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogs.
- Adhere to all food safety requirements, good manufacturing practices, and good documentation practices when performing maintenance duties.
- Use common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches and hammers as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices.
- General maintenance, perform routine preventive maintenance on assigned schedule to ensure that machines and equipment continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of building does not deteriorate.
- Follow checklists, including inspection of drives, motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters and perform other maintenance functions.
- Communicate and maintain safety and security standards and follow all GMP guidelines.
- Work with Sanitation to perform preventative maintenance and deep cleaning of equipment following assigned schedule.
- Manage the calibration of thermometers, scales, and equipment at the WFM FL Bakehouse.
- Attend Safety committee meetings.
- Consistently communicate, uphold and embody Whole Foods Market's quality standards, vision and philosophy.
- Establish and maintain positive and productive vendor relationships.
- Other tasks, as assigned by Team Leader.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Some working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical and mechanical
- Able to read, analyze and interpret repair manuals, parts catalogues, blueprints, technical procedures, safety rules, operation/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Stay current with changes in maintenance procedures
- Strong organizational skills, attention to details, ability to prioritize and ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, on-line ordering and troubleshooting through vendor websites
- Able to deliver information in a clear and concise manner to fellow team members and customers
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in recognizing and accomplishing all tasks where there is a direct job responsibility
- Familiar with lock-out, tag-out procedures when working on industrial machinery and equipment
- High attention to detail and thoroughness in approach with all paperwork
- Proper use of equipment which may include but not limited to, knives, personal protective equipment, forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks, six wheel carts, baler (age restrictions may apply) and all other equipment used during preparation and clean up within department and store
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the facility, including nights, weekends and holidays as required
