Job Summary

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated fabricator with expertise relevant to design, fabrication and assembly of complex mechanical structures and machine shop equipment. In this role, you will contribute to development and deployment of the company’s internal fabrication capabilities in support of engineering design. The candidate must have knowledge of infrastructure, setup, operation, and maintenance requirements for advanced shop equipment, expertise in modern fabrication techniques, and proven record of successful work in collaboration with engineering teams. The ideal candidate takes pride in their craftsmanship, organization, and attention to detail in a fast-moving exciting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fast turn-around prototypes for engineering development
  • Interact with engineering teams to handle and execute work requests
  • Propose optimal/innovative fabrication techniques for given designs/jobs
  • Work with other team members on large assembly projects
  • Welding assemblies to meet print requirements
  • Conduct training occasionally on machine capability and best practices to enhance design for manufacturing knowledge-base, operator safety, and strengthen team collaboration
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years working in a fabrication/welding shop environment desired
  • Strong background in GTAW welding process involving a variety of materials from thin walls to schedule 90+ piping
  • Ability to pass 6G GTAW Welding Qualification 
  • Experience with manual tools required
  • Experience with manual machine tools (lathe, mill) desired
  • Experience interpreting and manufacturing parts and assemblies from mechanical drawings required
  • Experience with communication supporting a closed loop design/fabrication process desired
  • Experience with CAD/Solidworks desired
  • Experience working with stainless piping, tubing, pressure vessels desired
  • Experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and API standards desired
  • AWS Certified Welder Certification desired
  • Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others

Physical Conditions

  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces

Safety and PPE

  • Reading and interpreting hazardous warning signs

  • Reporting issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
  • Wearing proper PPE, to include face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes

Certification

  • Capable of obtaining forklift and boom lift certification

  • Occasionally requires non-standard work-week hours 
  • Occasionally requires working 2nd shift, beginning at 4:30pm local time
  • Occasionally requires extended hours to support launch and critical project timelines
