Role Definition
Supports logistics processes, activities, and customers for all modes of transportation.

Responsibilities
•    Assisting in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity and identifying opportunities to reduce lead times.
•    Identifying opportunities for improvements including cost, quality, and service of customer needs and issues.
•    Implementing and maintaining monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.
•    Generating and analyzing reports of transportation costs and carrier performance. Planning and tracking lead times including compliance with related regulations.

Import/Export - MFG: Knowledge of issues, procedures, tools and practices of importing and exporting; ability to import and export goods to and from international locations.
 Level Basic Understanding: 
•    Explains commonly used import and export regulations of U.S. Customs.
•    Identifies basic documentation required for importing or exporting goods.
•    Describes typical letter of credit procedures and insurance requirements.
•    Displays an overall understanding of the import and export process.

Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.
 Level Basic Understanding: 
•    Explains how improvements in logistics contribute to competitive advantage in the marketplace.
•    Identifies issues and considerations for inbound and outbound logistics.
•    Documents internal and external informative sources or proprietary materials about logistics management.
•    Describes basic logistical processes and sub-processes.

Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
 Level Basic Understanding: 
•    Describes the typical tasks associated with using and managing suppliers.
•    Defines common terms and conditions of agreements with suppliers.
•    Explains the organizational process for soliciting and selecting suppliers.
•    States the roles and responsibilities of one's own and suppliers' staff.

Supply Chain Management - MFG: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.
 Level Working Knowledge: 
•    Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
•    Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
•    Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products or components.
•    Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
•    Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.

Transportation - MFG: Knowledge of transportation; ability to transport materials and goods to and from suppliers, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and customers.
 Level Extensive Experience: 
•    Conducts joint planning with carriers to forecast short- and long-term transportation needs.
•    Coaches others on using various approaches for assessing transportation alternatives and selecting optimum mode.
•    Manages arrangements with all major modes of domestic transportation.
•    Negotiates and monitors rates and service controls with major carriers.
•    Participates in evaluation, selection, monitoring and termination of carriers.
•    Collaborates with shippers to plan for and mitigate the transportation capacity crunch.
