The Engineering function at the GSK Ware manufacturing site is responsible for the provision of technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation and controls systems for all production operations to ensure safety, quality and production targets are achieved.  Due to the sustained long-term expansion of the Ware site we are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Engineer to join our Respiratory Supply Chain (RSC) team at the site.

Senior Engineers are accountable for specific/defined process (with clear boundaries and interdependencies) with the objective of developing plant, equipment, and process understanding across the Ware Site.  You will work closely with engineers, technicians, contactors, suppliers and consultants to efficiently deliver a range of activities relating to defined processes/systems/equipment (end to end) to agreed levels of quality, cost, time and tangible benefit.  This includes all tasks, systems, data, and information flow required for the process/system/equipment to succeed and remain compliant.

It is expected this role may also hold Authorised Person (AP) status and/or be a Subject Matter Expert (SME).  This entails in-depth understanding of the designated process/system/equipment with the authority and ability to do what is best for the overall performance.  This element of the role extends to ensuring relevant information is fed back to the business in order to make improvements.  In this capacity the Senior Engineer act as the primary point of contact in their area of expertise (including for regulatory auditors during inspections).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the appropriate engineering team engaged in the development and delivery projects or provision of services within the function or area to meet the needs of the business.

  • Delivering projects and technical solutions to agreed standards, using established controls, and contributing to the processes of governance.

  • Generating project proposals, designs and plans which are technically sound and give optimum investment value

  • Owning, representing, and assisting in the development of a specific area of expertise for the site (and the wider Pharmaceutical Supply Chain – PSC – function).

  • Trained in and have a solid understanding of associated SOPs and SWI's related to role (and area of specialism).

About You:

This role would suit a motivated person who has strong engineering experience gained from working in a complex GMP environment.   As a professional engineer (Chartered or working towards chartered status), you will have a strong track-record of delivery in engineering technical or management (including cross-functional) positions.  It is imperative in this role that you demonstrate an ability to understand and translate strategy, engage and empower the team to deliver the business aims. You will be focused on providing solutions, continuous improvement, and ideally you will have experience acquired from working in a highly regulated manufacturing-based industry.

About Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form.  The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms and operating a high volume commercial production environment for respiratory devices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer (or working towards achieving Chartered Status)

  • Engineering degree.

  • Experience within an engineering / manufacturing context (ideally from a highly regulated industry).

  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
