What a College Intern - Mechanical Design Engineering does at HP:

  • Utilize simulation software to conduct dynamic analyses and simulate the movement of mechanical mechanisms in various designs.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to comprehend project requirements, including mechanical specifications and performance objectives.
  • Explore a range of configurations and parameters within the simulation software to optimize the functionality and efficiency of mechanical designs.
  • Design and develop prototypes based on simulation results, employing innovative approaches to validate and refine conceptual designs.
  • Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of prototypes, ensuring stability, reliability, and adherence to design specifications and performance criteria.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Mechatronics/Mechanical.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical design and basic understanding of electrical and sensors.
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for self-directed learning, proactively seeking out new knowledge and skills to enhance project outcomes.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CREO Elements/Direct) for creating and modifying mechanical designs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Able to commit to 5-6 months internship duration, starting in Jan 2025.
