The End User Support Specialist II, under general supervision, performs complex and non-routine specialized end user technology support functions.  After hours may be required.  Requires CJIS Level 3; Criminal Justice Information System Fingerprint Background Check – can be acquired upon hiring.
 

Job Description

The End User Support Specialist II, under general supervision, performs routine end user technology support functions, such as troubleshooting, analysis, research, de-bugging, problem-solving, and repairs.  After hours may be required.  Requires CJIS Level 3; Criminal Justice Information System Fingerprint Background Check – can be acquired upon hiring.  Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate including occasional weekends.

Responsibilities:
50% Coordinates and provides technical support in a wide variety of areas, including but not limited to: classrooms, computer labs, conference rooms, specialty spaces and office spaces.  This position includes specialty A/V editing equipment, TV studio broadcast equipment, and Apple product support.

 

25% Troubleshoots a variety of end user computing and connectivity issues. Confers with personnel (co-workers, faculty, staff, and student employees) in resolving problems involving technical matters. Evaluates and follows through on issues and problems until resolved or escalated. Researches problems and recommends solutions. Collaborates with other technical staff on the implementation of new technology deployments.

5% Researches unique end user needs. Provides specialized guidance, recommendations, alternative options, and solutions in the use or selection of a variety of hardware and software products in order to achieve end user’s goals and in accordance with policy requirements.

5% Assists and mentors employees, including students, in resolving issues. Provides training to end users on the advanced use of various specialized software applications. Helps develop end user training on specialized software and hardware.

5% Reviews the accuracy of documentation of end user support methods and procedures. Participates with management in planning, direction, and coordinating operational and procedural matters to meet goals and objectives.

 

5% Evaluates new technologies to determine their applicability with regards to end user needs. Equips and supports employees to successfully adopt change in order to drive organizational success and outcomes.

5% Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Three years of related experience in IT.

-Preferably in Higher Education, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of basic computer operations, word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of advanced IT, intermediate troubleshooting, client relations, formulating and contributing ideas, and knowledge of the Information Technology Interface Library (ITIL).


-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others including student employees.

 

-Strong ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

 

-Able to think logically and clearly.

 

-Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain things clearly to non-IT proficient users.

 

Other Duties:

-Supports the ISO and IRM in implementing computing policies and procedures; Stays up to date with the newest tools in the IT industry; Performs research and testing; Performs other duties as assigned. This is a CJIS Level 3 security-sensitive position- Personnel with information technology roles who may have access to the Criminal Justice Information System (This level is designed for all information technology personnel including system administrators, security administrators, network administrators); As a condition of employment the individual will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information System Fingerprint Background Check and within a reasonable timeframe after the individual's employment successfully complete periodic training to retain and maintain assigned responsibilities.

Salary

Commensurate with experience

The target base annual salary starts at $44,212 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
