Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) sector is seeking a Sr Director, Programs to oversee the Advanced Land Sensors (ALS) Operating Unit (OU) in Baltimore, MD. This position will report into the Vice President of the Land and Maritime Sensors (LMS) Business Unit (BU) and will provide day to day leadership of the ALS OU to meet the business unit strategic objectives / financials. The individual should be experienced in all aspects of engineering and production processes, from requirements analysis to operations through verification and validation testing. The ability to lead diverse teams and a strong leadership background is required.
The position has significant senior leadership interaction (both internally and with external customers) and will require a candidate with strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to perform in an environment of ambiguity and continuous change. The position must role model NG leadership behaviors. The incumbent must have strong communication, executive presence, and cross-cultural skills to be able to effectively interact with the leadership team. The Director should develop a clearly defined vision and objectives for the team.
What You'll Get to Do:
Program Directors are responsible for coordination and management of all phases of execution, from inception (capture leadership and proposal development) through completion (contract closeout). Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Development and execution of capture strategies for domestic and international opportunities
- Direct and lead a multi-disciplinary team in support of program requirements
- Execute on strategic planning and cost / schedule focused delivery
- Development and delivery of presentations to customers, management, and other program stakeholders
- Development of customer relationships and cultivation of customer intimacy
- Knowledge and execution of a variety of proposal and contract types (e.g. FFP, CPFF)
- Proposal development / capture planning and strategy
- Creation, review and finalization of the program Statement of Work
- Negotiation and establishment of schedule milestones, payment, and other key contract terms and conditions
- Provide leadership and guidance to a cross functional matrix team
- Participate as an active program team member in key recurring operations, including: program management reviews, capture reviews, recurring status reporting, staff meetings, etc.
- Adherence to all internal processes for Program Management
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 15 or more years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 13 or more years of relevant experience
- Experience with DoD program management, budget and program acquisition process
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong cost, schedule, technical, management and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated understanding of EVMS and Risk and Opportunity Management
- Demonstrated ability to align Northrop Grumman capabilities and help customers meet their mission objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communications, presentation skills, organizational and time management skills, and a strong sales/marketing presence. Candidate must be able to clearly present ideas to senior management, team members, and customers
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- US Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Security Clearance and the ability to be cleared to Special Access Programs; OR DoE equivalent and the ability to be cleared to Special Access Programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in science, engineering or relevant acumen (ex: Business, Leadership)
- Experience in the ground radar marketplace
- Program management experience on both complex development and production programs
- International experience, especially in business capture
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance; OR DoE equivalent
- Developing capture strategy and tactics (including business solutions) for pursuit of opportunities with a solid business case and ROI
Salary Range: $240,100.00 - $360,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
