We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our UK Engineering team at our Livingston site. This brand new role offers the chance to make a big impact, grow your career, and contribute to the development and improvement of our new manufacturing facility.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for leading customer technical communications, new product introduction, process continuous improvement, and demonstrating technical expertise to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical expert on Plexus site manufacturing for the customer's product.
  • Lead response and actions to address customer technical inquiries and concerns.
  • Lead design for manufacturability discussions with the customer to improve manufacturability, profitability, quality, and throughput.
  • Assist the customer in resolving problems related to Plexus Manufacturing.
  • Capture customer requirements and translate them into a manufacturing solution.
  • Analyze and resolve customer/product-related problems in real-time and develop recovery plans.
  • Determine, create and maintain BOM structure, BOM levels, and build-through strategies as needed.
  • Lead manufacturing readiness using the PPQP process.
  • Create assembly process flow, Product FMEA and develop, execute, and maintain the Product Control Plan.
  • Execute process implementation, assembly set up and validation requirements
  • Conduct continuous improvement efforts at the product level to reduce defects, improve yields, and increase productivity.
  • Analyze product metric data to assess efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support efforts to identify root causes of failures and sub-standard performance, and improve efficiency.
  • Develop short- and long-term action plans to remedy root causes and improve efficiency.
  • Support ongoing production activities to meet customer needs and achieve Plexus' goals.
  • Review and execute changes to customer specifications, industry standards, and Plexus standards.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing/production environment and working with electro-mechanical products.
  • Background in Continuous Improvement and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to apply systematic data analysis and problem-solving to address technical and organizational problems.
  • Experience designing and conducting experiments and analyzing, interpreting, validating, and communicating data.
  • Ability to coach and mentor technicians and support staff.
  • Can work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and lead projects.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as CAD, Visio, Solidworks, and other applicable Plexus programs.
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree, ideally in an engineering-related field.
