Who will you be working with?

Our Engineering team in Kazakhstan combines in-depth technical knowledge with a collaborative approach to drive technology development and growth for the region. You'll interact daily with both local and global stakeholders, ensuring that our engineering efforts meet the highest standards of performance, quality, and cost-efficiency.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Engineering Leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the technology development for Kazakhstan, shaping the product portfolio, and ensuring operational excellence in collaboration with both regional and global teams. Your role will support product development, certification processes, field services, supplier development, and talent management, reporting out to senior leadership regularly. You will need to ensure success for the business in the region & expand the capability & expertise by building strong team. You will be running Engineering Center operations in collaboration with LKZ leadership team.

What do we want to know about you?

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (Masters/Bachelors) in Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent discipline from a university of repute.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience, preferably in the Rail business, with at least 3 years of managing customer discussions and working with engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of regional application & products along with Kazakhstan certification process.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a cross-functional global team.
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing at all levels of the organization and strong customer relationship skills.

Desired:

  • Familiarity with Freight business processes & tools.
  • Experience in leading global teams and demonstrated ability to lead effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Sigma Greenbelt or Black belt certification.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional team efforts.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Application & Requirements: Guide in-country & global teams to capture requirements & application-specific data/practices in consultation with product teams and customers.
  • Technology Development & Execution: Partner with global engineering teams to execute development of technology for Kazakhstan & the region in accordance with requirements & applications. This includes building prototypes and ensuring seamless execution of internal and external (customer & certification) product validations.
  • Customer Discussions & Commercial Support: Partner with product, program, and commercial teams in the country to lead all technology discussions to shape product & technology for the region.
  • Certifications & Product Launch: Lead certification and product launches for new as well as regularization for existing products.
  • Field Services & Reliability: Interface with regional services leadership team for supporting field reliability and establishing proactive engineering support strategies to meet contractual & critical customer needs.
  • Supplier Development: Partner with the supply chain team for strategic supply chain development in the country to meet current & future needs of product, cost, schedule, and certification.
  • Talent Management: Hire, develop, and retain engineering talent in the country to address all regional needs. Lead the operations of the in-country engineering center in partnership with the LKZ leadership team.
  • Engineering Budgeting: Incorporate all engineering budgeting needs for the region to sustain current products as well as develop new ones for the future.
  • Communication & Reporting: Provide timely communications, develop & own metrics for reporting progress, and effectively communicate with cross-functional and senior leadership to ensure quality solutions are developed & delivered for our customers.
  • Competency Building: Continue to build and grow competencies in the country, aiming to create a best-in-class engineering team. Establish a training framework for engineers to develop domain depth, product & process knowledge.
  • Strategic Leadership: Work closely with regional cross-functional leadership to define priorities for the team and execute the same. Be an active contributor to the Global Engineering Leadership Team and partner with regional & global leadership to establish a technology roadmap for the region.
  • Advocacy: Be the engineering single point in the region for shaping product offerings for evolving customer needs, resolving field reliability issues, and advocating for Wabtec products.
  • Cultural Ambassador: Be an ambassador and role model of Wabtec values, driving optimum synergy across different businesses to optimize outcomes for Wabtec and our customers.
