About the Role & Team:

The Global Analytics organization provides data science capabilities to partner teams across eBay to enable high quality data-driven decision making.  We are seeking a Lead for our India Analytics Center to develop and grow the analytics capabilities of our Bangalore-based team.  This role will also serve as the Site Lead for eBay’s Bangalore office, advocating for the needs of all eBay employees represented in the office - including those not reporting through Global Analytics.

What You Will Accomplish:

  • Lead a team of data scientists and analysts to develop analytics solutions for eBay's Markets, Selling, and Finance organizations.
  • Build strong relationships with relevant business partners both within analytics and other functions in order to ensure the capabilities of the analytics team grows to match evolving business needs.
  • Coach and mentor the India-based teams through their analysis of large, complex data sets to uncover insights and trends that inform company policies and initiatives.
  • Apply various analytics and data science techniques (e.g. machine learning, simulation, optimization, and A/B testing) to drive high-quality decisions around the organization and find opportunities that will drive business impact.
  • Communicate complex analytical results and implications to senior leadership and collaborators in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Drive the development of data-driven strategies to enhance analytics capabilities and unlock new opportunities to improve customer experience.

What You Will Bring:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in data science or analytics, with at least 7 years in an analytics leadership role.
  • Proven track record of developing excellent analytics partnerships in a globally-matrixed organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of factors.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning, predictive modeling, and optimization techniques.
