We are seeking an experienced Web Middleware & Integration Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of middleware technologies and a proven track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise middleware platforms. The Web Middleware & Integration Engineer will be responsible for ensuring seamless communication between different systems and applications, optimizing performance, and providing technical support at Travel + Leisure Co. This position is also required to maintain the operational stability and integrity of the web applications/services at production. This includes ensuring uptime and performance SLAs. The scope of platforms and applications supported include J2EE Application Servers, Service Bus, Microservices, Messaging and caching framework in Non-Production and Production environments. Partnership with application and system constituents and various vendors for day-to-day support will be relevant for this position.

How You'll Shine:
Designing & Building Web Middleware Infrastructure

  • Participant in design of the middleware & integration solutions, estimate the project effort (PEG) based on Technical Architecture Document (TAD). create Solution Engineer Document (SED), build the new infrastructures (software installation, configuration, connection, HA, and monitors/alerts) for the web applications/services based on the project scheduled and support the production releases.
  • Monitor and tune middleware services to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams, such as Application Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, and software developers, to integrate and coordinate the delivery of infrastructure in the web distributed system.
  • Learn applicable standards and best practices.
  • Create and maintain system documentation and Run Book related to middleware architecture, design, and configuration.
  • Apply automation if applicable.
  • Ensure the security, integrity, and performance of middleware services.


Explore New Technologies

  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends in middleware and integrate these into their work.
  • Conduct technical research, testing, evaluation and documentation of technologies and tools to ensure that technologies and tools are current and functional.
  • Engage in technology roadmap.


Operational Excellence

  • Provide and maintain the operational integrity of company’s Internet & Intranet system, including its availability/stability/security compliance of the web applications and web distribution systems, as well as recovery of P1/P2 incidents and root cause analysis.
  • Investigate, identify and resolve any issues reported in the web distributed environments at non-prod and prod.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members.


Travel Requirements:

  • Travel is demand-based and will average 5% of time.


What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to adapt, and work autonomously in a 24 x 7 global business

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly, and become the subject matter expert
  • Ability to solve complex problems with minimal direction

  • Knowledge working in an Agile environment is a plus
  • Knowledge of service management process (e.g. ITIL) is a plus
  • Experience in Java application servers such as Weblogic, Tomcat, JBoss and websphere
  • Hand-on experience in API/Microservices implementation
  • Open-Source Products Apache or nginx web server, Redis, RabbitMQ and HAProxy
  • Other Middleware Technologies such as Oracle SOA Suite and APIGEE X.
  • Experience with public cloud offerings such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform
  • Hand-on experience in Akamai CDN and Adobe AEM
  • Experience with Observability tools like Appd, NewRelic, AppManager and Splunk
  • Experience with SSL, TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP, SSH, DNS, VIP
  • Good understanding of network/security systems and protocols
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with system integration and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Ansible etc
  • Knowledge of WLS, Shell, or Perl scripting languages a plus
  • Knowledge of container technology is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Middleware Engineering or a related role in an enterprise environment
  • 8 Years of technology experience in lieu of formal degree.


Experience equivalent to the education requirement may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement.
