The Cybersecurity Engineer provides support dedicated entirely to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and WAVE systems. This individual will oversee, manage, and coordinate the plans and actions related to cyber issues on the system.
This resource supports cybersecurity as it relates to upgrades, RMF accreditation, and Continuous Monitoring (CM). Distinguished and technical expertise personnel meet National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity (NICE Framework) (NIST SP 800-181r1) requirements and possess necessary security clearances. Extensive knowledge of ASTRO 25 compliance to Federal Government cybersecurity requirements including, but not limited to, DHS 4300A, NIST SP 800-53.

Hardware, software, Ports, Protocols, and Services – initial and move/add/change related maintenance
- Scan data review and analysis
Includes researching issues, opening and tracking cybersecurity tickets with Motorola Solutions
Feedback for plugins including remediation availability timing
Weekly Cybersecurity updates to include new issues and updates to pre-existing issues
- Respond to DHS and LMR/WAVE systems administrators cyber questions and problems
- Facilitate resolution of cyber problems with Motorola field teams, Product teams, Engineering teams, and Product Services
- Primary interface to Motorola Solutions for cybersecurity issues
- Provide guidance on cybersecurity troubleshooting and remediation including flaw remediation, scanning issues
- Collaboration with Motorola Solutions site-dedicated Cybersecurity System Manager, DHS Operations staff, and DHS Cybersecurity staff.
- Evaluate all available LMR/WAVE system software/hardware upgrades and make recommendations to DHS regarding such upgrades
- Consultative support for optional cybersecurity CLINs
- Kickoff meeting to clarify scope. Motorola Solutions document scope and timing to confirm with Customer before work begins
- Presale consulting to help Customer refine cybersecurity scope
Candidate Requirements
Must be willing to obtain a DHS Public Trust Clearance
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
