Collaborate cross-functionally and cross-site with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and other engineering groups to develop strategies that characterize the performance of our best-in-class SSDs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of performance characterization for Micron's datacenter SSD products. Be the go-to expert for all performance-related aspects from product inception through customer qualifications and beyond.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of in-house automation frameworks and tools. Evaluate current validation processes, identify new approaches for better coverage, and ensure high fidelity of performance characterization data.
  • Develop measurement and benchmarking methods to generate behavioral characterization profiles for Micron’s SSD products. Collaborate with design and firmware teams to define testing strategies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within the validation team, guiding new engineers and peers on SSD performance testing frameworks and results analysis methods.
  • Investigate test and customer issues through triage, failure mode investigation, replication, root cause analysis, and work with end customers to provide satisfactory resolutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred; a Bachelor's degree with relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Experience in Python scripting and building automated test frameworks.
  • Proficiency in setting up and managing SQL databases, including creating tables and writing optimized queries.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS) for setting up or managing existing databases.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade SSDs in an R&D or validation role, servers, and operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of and/or exposure to enterprise storage protocols (PCIe/NVMe preferred).
  • Skilled in data visualization techniques and tools, with a flair for visually representing complex technical relationships.
  • Proven ability to analyze problems, diagnose root causes, and apply corrective actions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in benchmarking performance for storage, including crafting FIO test suites for characterizing SSD performance.
  • Working knowledge of SSD architecture and constituent components (e.g., NAND, ASIC/FPGA, firmware).
  • Coding experience in C/C++ and familiarity with data structures for use in SQL databases. Demonstrated experience in building bench-level tests and automated test frameworks.
  • Experience visualizing data using Tableau and/or Streamlit or other data visualization tools.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$92,000.00 - $194,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.  The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations.  Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.  The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
