Job Description:

Position Purpose

This position is responsible to perform major clean-up, sanitizing and set-up of equipment of all plant production lines.  The partner will work to meet customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and Schreiber requirements for cleanliness.

Essential Functions

Perform all process CP, CCP, QP, and CQP checks required for the position. Follow reaction plans for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement deviations.  Must follow Good Manufacturing practices and good housekeeping guidelines.  Demonstrated ability to properly follow safety guidelines, OSHA requirements and wear personal protective equipment.

  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices and good housekeeping guidelines.  Must follow safety guidelines, wear designated Personal Protective Equipment, and meet OSHA safety requirements.
  • Must be able to identify and understand customer requirements.
  • Satisfactory attendance record. Must be willing to work weekends, off-shifts, OT as needed. Must be on-time to work.
  • Teamwork and compliance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in meetings.
  • Utilize Process Excellence tools to improve plant performance and complete specific projects as directed by Department Team Leaders. Engage in P.E. and SPS tools and support PE initiatives.

Performs duties as required by plant leadership to ensure efficient & effective operation of production processes.  This list is not all inclusive but may involve the following processes and/or equipment:

  • Operate Clean in Place (CIP) systems for specific equipment.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitizing of casting, processing and packaging equipment using hand tools, power sprayers, rinsing unites, and sanitation chemicals.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow the Master Sanitation Schedule and maintain sanitation records as needed.
  • Perform final sanitation inspection and sanitizing equipment prior to start up.
  • Effectively practice time and task management. Manage multiple priorities.
  • Inventory, stocking and replenishment of sanitation supplies.
  • Special cleaning projects as assigned.
  • Create work orders as needed to repair or replace damaged equipment.
  • Will be involved in using TMP and QIP.
  • Attend and complete chemical safety training. Demonstrate ability to find and understand MSDS information.
  • General Sanitation Labor will be involved in cleaning and sanitation of one or more of the following areas (Belts, Blending, CIP, Clean and Grind, Cooker, Cooler Dock, COP Tank, Pallitizer Dock, Wrapper areas)

Secondary - Non-Essential Functions

  • Perform other General Labor duties in plant as needed
  • Must follow oral and written instructions
  • Physically capable of performing moderate to heavy lifting, using safe lifting techniques to maintain safe work environment
  • Willing to learn new process systems as they evolve
  • Must be able to record data on production and other paperwork including using and understanding SCADA systems
  • Must be able and willing to work in wet and humid conditions
  • Must be able to work around ammonia systems, acid systems, steam systems, high voltage and know the safeguards against being accidently exposed to fumes, live steam and/or shock

  • Interacts with team leaders, team advisors, operators and other production workers. Requires good communication and writing skills, must work well with others along with being a team player.

Expectations / Standards / Training Requirements

  • Complete tasks as assigned by leader and others according to expectations.  Must possess basic math, counting and calculator use skills. Forklift driving skills may be necessary. Training can generally be completed in a 4-week period or less.

Physical Demands

  • Stand up to 12 hours per day
  • Walk up to 50 minutes per hour
  • Sit up to 15 minutes per hour
  • Work in wet and humid Environment up to 12 hours per day
  • Lift/Carry up to 50 pounds up to 4 times per hour
  • Bend/Squat/Twist up to 40 minutes per hour
