Job Summary
Drives a culture of innovation, excellence & collaboration in engineering teams, and establishes key quality metrics and processes for SDLC.

Responsibilities
Project and Program Management

  • Influences and collaborates with multiple stakeholders of multiple portfolio of projects to plan software release calendars

  • Ensures successful delivery of the portfolio on time and budget

  • Provides overall program management for various portfolios, including global projects, by working with Technical Project Managers and leads across the teams and locations

  • Creates and drives on stakeholder communications with respective to portfolio status, and budget utilization

  • Responsible for resolving escalated issues and potential roadblocks

  • Responsible for identifying and mitigating project execution risks

  • Responsible for keeping all executive stakeholders updated on program/project status/risks

  • Responsible for optimizing resource allocation and resolving resource allocation conflicts across the portfolio

  • Guide and/or revise portfolio-level plans, as needed, to ensure they completely capture all activities and eliminate duplicative efforts


Stakeholder/Customer Engagement

  • Acts as a technical liaison for customer advisories, co-innovations, and single point of contact for incidents

  • Influence customer cycles and participate in industry forums and standard bodies


Management Reporting

  • Presents critical status to executives and makes recommendations for improvement

  • Facilitates monthly operational reviews of operational performance and roadmap status

  • Responsible for reporting overall status to GTS senior leadership and executives, within and outside GTS, taking remediation action, when applicable


System Optimization

  • Drives and manages change across the organization by implementing improvements to internal processes and systems

  • Proactively identifies gaps, risks and issues and influence key stakeholders across the organization to resolve them


Resource and Budget Management

  • Works closely with product engineering managers and technical project managers to track resource allocation and utilization for portfolio projects

  • Ensures resource allocations based on Org priorities

  • Identifies potential budget shortfalls and escalate proactively

  • Manages and/or escalates issues, as needed

  • Provides input to the annual budget planning process relating to project/support/SW maintenance/ Renewals/purchases/etc. for his/her areas of responsibility

  • Review and optimization of budget allocation


Software Architecture/Design/DevOps

  • Participates in software architecture, design reviews and DevOps processes of various projects and products

  • Vendor and resource management for infrastructural needs


Stakeholder Management

  • Responsible for providing objective and comprehensive input to senior leadership and executive decision makers

  • Solicits stakeholder input to define comprehensive improvement plans that are consistent and drive standardization across regions

  • Influences and collaborates with multiple stakeholders of multiple portfolios and projects to ensure effective release, change management and that support plans are defined and communicated

  • Creates and drives broad stakeholder communications with respect to portfolio status and budget utilization


System Optimization

  • Monitors adherence to KPIs

  • Performs RCA if metrics are missed

  • Proposes mitigation strategies for missed targets

  • Is accountable for successful implementation of approved system improvement recommendations

  • Drives adoption of best practices and standards


R&D/Innovation

  • Drives innovation and provides thought leadership across the teams, rewards innovation, and helps communicate new ideas across teams

  • Fosters and promotes a culture of innovation across local and global teams


Process/Policies/Standards

  • Ensures departmental process/policies /standards are aligned with GTS priorities

  • Defines process goals and measurement standards to ensure compliance

  • Optimizes processes to ensure continuous process improvement to drive process quality and productivity

  • Ensures consistency and efficiencies across standards and policies


Road Map/Planning

  • Responsible for leading strategic planning, influencing and driving prioritization of initiatives with executive stakeholders

  • Responsible for developing and communicating a roadmap of projects and initiatives in support of stakeholder priorities to all levels of the organization


People Management

  • Provides leadership and direction to the team, through senior managers

  • Will likely lead a larger team or multiple teams focused on execution of area or sub-function plans

  • Is accountable for the performance and results of direct reports and maybe a larger or multiple teams, perhaps global

  • Responsible for succession planning recommendations and contributing to and driving the people development strategy

  • Responsible for performance management of team members, including disciplinary actions and hire/fire decisions/ recommendations

  • Responsible for the GPS process including assessments and Total Rewards allocations of direct reports and reviewing and approving manager recommendations

  • Responsible for talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans

  • Models the Equinix Culture and Values


Review/Approvals/Escalations/Issues Resolution

  • Leads Senior Leadership and Executive level escalations

  • Drives creation and delivery of executive decision making cycles, with objective and comprehensive presentation of issues, business impacts, options with pros/cons, budgetary estimates, and recommendations


Vendor Management

  • Approves final vendor selection

  • Executes and guides vendor evaluations by team members, guides recommendations and reviews negotiation communications for executive review

  • Establishes vendor engagement, support and SLA mechanisms

  • Participates in vendor advisory boards and user groups

  • Accountable for creating and negotiating vendor contracts, MSA/SOW, License Agreements, and drives internal reviews with GTS leadership and Legal teams

  • Executes medium-scale vendor evaluations, pricing negotiations and software acquisitions

  • Accountable for vendor performance


Country/Regional Management

  • Manages team of local technology professionals/managers in a given country/region

  • Represents country/regional priorities to the global team

  • Executes against approved initiatives

  • Manages technology and/or human resources in a single location, being familiar with local language, law and regulations, as needed

  • Partners with global technology owners and regional stakeholders, to implement and maintain global technology standards

  • Manages relationships with country/regional senior leadership stakeholders

  • Defines, presents and obtains leadership approval for local execution strategy, aligned to global standards


Qualifications

  • Proven years of professional experience in a software development leadership role

  • Bachelor's in Engineering preferred

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - CA Bay Area : 240,000 - 360,000 USD / Annual

United States - CA Non-Bay Area, AK, CT, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, VA, WA : 220,000 - 330,000 USD / Annual

United States - Other posted locations not specifically listed : 200,000 - 300,000 USD / Annual

Poland (Masovian) : 450,000 - 744,000 PLN / Annual

Poland (Outside of Masovian) : 409,000 - 676,000 PLN / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
