How you will create an impact

This role requires technical handling & management of 1st & 3rd party inland marine claims from FNOL through settlement and recovery referral, including coverage review, legal liability assessment, quantum analysis, mitigation of indemnity, expense management, timely / accurate settlement and subrogation referral. The position provides technical claims analysis and support to team members and reports directly to the North America Inland Marine Claims leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Strong technical capability to apply inland marine loss / claim investigation results to policy terms & conditions and evaluate policy coverage in a dynamic, high paced claim team environment, adhering to AIG Marine Claim Handling guidelines & Best Practices within assigned authority limits
  • Provide timely and detailed claim / loss information to claim management & key business stakeholders
  • Assign and manage appropriately skilled vendors / business partners to support an objective, factual claim investigation delivered timely and within expected ALAE cost. Utilize desk review and VBA where appropriate to realize ALAE cost & time savings
  • Manage inland marine claim disputes and litigation with an aim to resolve amicably and, where applicable, in accordance with Corporate litigation management guidelines, within established claim authority
  • Share claim driven insights and lessons learned with underwriters, actuaries & the marine loss control engineering team to mitigate future loss, provide valuable risk management guidance to customers & brokers and drive a culture of continuous improvement in AIG’s marine insurance portfolio
  • Initiate and maintain regular contact with NA Marine brokers and customers fostering a collaborative relationship and providing regular account / portfolio level claim status and challenges.
  • Be watchful for, identify and recommend opportunities for process and customer service improvements in the handling / management of NA Inland Marine claims.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Be an energetic, motivated and organized self-starter
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Established track record meeting with and presenting to customers and brokers
  • Ability to work and contribute in a collaborative way in a team environment
  • Provide technical knowledge, expertise and guidance to colleagues
  • Multi-state Adjuster licenses enabling US domestic marine claim management
  • 5 years + inland marine claim handling experience preferred
