POSITION: Security Representative

REPORTS TO: General Manager
FLSA STATUS: Hourly/Nonexempt
Summary
Under the supervision of the General Manager and Box Office Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with various security needs as assigned by management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Screening fans entering the building for unauthorized items
- Securing/restricting public access to areas deemed as off-limits by management
- Patrolling the building’s interior and/or exterior for unauthorized accesses or trespassing during, before, and after arena events
- Responding to customer/fan needs relating to crowd control and safety in accordance to rules and policies established for each event.
- Alerting arena management and supervisors to any concerns regarding safety/security
- Handle security/safety needs in accordance with established protocols
- Escort staff and/or tour personnel to provide a security presence as requested
- Stand guard during events. Tour post periodically to ensure safety of patrons, staff, vendors, participants and others on premises.
- Handle any disturbances or problems that arise during event or at the facility. If necessary, escort disruptive individual(s) to management or security supervisor and/or off the premises.
- Write incident reports and meet with security supervisor to review procedures.
- Control unusual circumstances and events during fire, storms, riots and other emergencies.
- Respond immediately to emergency situations -- answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Act in a professional manner with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
- See that every client, patron and vendor receives the best service possible.
- Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Education and/or Experience
- On-the-job training provided.
- HS diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of security issues related to a major sports and entertainment venue.
- Handle conflicts, make common sense decisions and exercise proper action during high tension and stressful situations.
- Meet the physical demands of this job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), lifting, carrying, moving, climbing and moderate to loud noises.
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with other in both oral and written form.
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
- Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
- Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to work indoors and outdoors as required by the function. Must have the physical ability to maneuver around facility(ies), at times, walking and/or standing up to 6-10 hours daily, as well as the ability to lift in excess of 25 pounds. This position is also exposed to adverse conditions including inclement weather, noise fumes, etc.
