As the Site Leader for Blue Origin’s Rocket Park Manufacturing Complex, in Merritt Island, FL, this role will have a direct impact on the success of Blue’s mission. The Site Leader, this role reports  to  Vice President of Manufacturing Operations for New Glenn.  They will lead the fabrication teams to deliver all components required to support build and integration of New Glenn Heavy Launch Vehicle, while supporting all other Blue Origin Business Units (New Sheppard, Lunar, and Blue Ring) ensuring Blue’s ability to scale manufacturing operations. .  This role will  be accountable for delivering all components on time, with high quality and being cost competitive to ensure New Glenn cost per launch targets are achieved.  This will require the development, and implementation of additional manufacturing capabilities at Rocket Park (which include but are not limited to Spin Forming and Friction Stir Welding). 

As the Site Leader for Rocket Park, you will act as the delegate for VP of Manufacturing Operations in several forums, including coordination site level activities that support creating a safe and effective work environment for all Blue Teammates in Florida locations.  This may include but is not limited to supporting New Teammate Integration, Business Resource Group Engagements, Tours, Coordinating emerging facility needs, coordinating audits, supporting lean standard implementation through Gemba walks.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated success interfacing/integrating with all Enterprise Functions and Executive Leadership in an integrated capacity, while developing and deploying  the Manufacturing Operating System  to align across the enterprise to enable execution and forecasting our ability to deliver on Operations commitments, while implementing methods to increase production efficiency and productivity to include factory flow and higher throughput, first pass yield, and improved learning curve as we scale to rate. 

We are looking for an individual who goes beyond just reporting the data but who translates the data into actionable information to drives improved team performance. While this role requires someone with an understanding of industry best practices around Manufacturing, Business Operations, and development of new and unique manufacturing technologies, candidates must have demonstrated experience challenging the norms and maintaining a commitment to relentlessly pursuing new and better alternative practices.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering and/or manufacturing operations
  • 15+ years of engineering and manufacturing experience  with roles of expanding leadership and scope.
  • Lead and direct initiates and strategies that deliver cost effective, high quality, operational performance in the component fabrication environment.
  • Experience with large project data sets, project planning efforts, and integrating program cost and schedules to satisfy demand provided by the Enterprise Customers (SIOP)
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with a keen ability to understand and work with complex relationships across  the organization
  • Extensive experience in building and leading teams, including hiring new talent, growing existing talent, and fostering a productive and healthy team culture
  • Experience Propagate key operational findings and best practices to support improvement across the Blue enterprise.
  • Analyzing processes and operations at the micro and macro levels followed by implementing high impact improvements for safety, cost savings, and other means to accelerate progress.
  • Demonstrate Blue Origin’s Leadership Principles to cultivate a trusting, learning culture of leaders through continuous feedback, mentor and robust development opportunities.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion while developing sustaining high performance teams
  • Experience and ability to thrive in an environment with ambiguity, evolving priorities and requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • Experience Leading and Integrating large complex technical programs
  • Experienced Program Planning and Program Finance in support of large hardware platforms (Aerospace, Defense, Construction sectors)
  • Demonstrated success in designing, testing, implementing and deploying standard operating procedures and process
  • Passionate about the value robust schedule and cost management can bring to a program and experienced in articulating this value and earning buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Scheduling and/or project management experience in a recurring operations or maintenance environment
  • Expertise with Primavera P6, Deltek Cobra, and Empower
  • Proven record of hands-on development and implementation of company-wide process improvements
  • MBA, or Project Management certification (PMP/Certified Project Manager)
