Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector location located in Northridge, California is currently seeking a Principal Supply Chain Planning Specialist (Level 3) – Strategic Sourcing to support the Global Supply Chain team and our growing tactical missile business within the Advanced Weapons Business Unit. This is a 100% onsite position in Northridge, CA.

Summary of Position:

Individuals in this role will support the Strategic Sourcing team to negotiate long term pricing and right to buy agreements leading to a reduction in per missile cost. Employees will be responsible for identifying suppliers for RFQ/RFP solicitations, drafting and negotiating various agreements, and negotiating terms and conditions.  Employees will be responsible for assessing supply chain areas of risk including but not limited to supplier health, single points of failure, and the implementation and mitigation of corrective actions. This includes identifying new suppliers to compete with single source suppliers, assessing current suppliers, and improving the current supply base through relationship development to support our dynamic business and associated requirements. This will also include working closely with engineering to research developing technologies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Analyze and collect data on current awards and awards in pipeline to identify and capitalize on synergies at the operating and business unit
  • Analyze purchase material supply/demand position
  • Evaluate suppliers, addressing supplier capacity and/or production issues, and noting key performance indicators
  • Create and manage supplier matrices by commodity
  • Lead affordability, cost savings, and/or process improvement strategies
  • Develop and implement tools for supply chain planning at the program level to aid in efficient execution of awarded programs including drafting and negotiating long term pricing agreements, right to buy agreements and terms and conditions
  • Insert strategic supply chain tools at proposal stage to streamline execution at program award and capitalize on existing supplier relationships and supplier health
  • Provide data on current supplier engagement, gaps, penetration, and evaluate risks
  • Support long range strategic planning activities and establish near term tactics to bring longer term plans to fruition through supplier engagement and market analysis
  • Propose investment strategies that support the long-range strategic plans and drive synergies across similar product lines
  • Supports management of NCTA & Capital plans across the division through the understanding of supply chain health
  • Conducts market assessments relative to supply chain to include analysis of customer budgets, buying behaviors, and trends to identify potential market growth, supplier partnership or acquisition, and sourcing opportunities
  • Perform competitive analysis which will include identifying key trends, recent developments, competitive behaviors, and financial analysis
  • Participate in make/buy process, capacity planning, and resource planning; product phase-in/phase-out, manufacturing ramp-up, product end-of-life management

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position emphasizes skills and experience. We will consider candidates who meet one of the following criteria; a bachelor's degree with at least 6 years' experience in supply chain or a closely related field; or a master's degree with 4 years of experience in supply chain or a closely related field
  • Proficient in the procurement process, including but not limited to price analysis, negotiations, policies, and procedures, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR).
  • Established track record of procuring complex systems and assemblies.
  • Ability to establish long-term agreements, blanket agreements, vendor managed inventory, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
  • Ability to interpret engineering, production, and quality requirements and establish Statements of Work, and or subcontracts.
  • Proven experience using MS Office Suite and various MRP/ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint).
  • Demonstrated experience in interfacing with functional teams, customers, and major subcontract parts in an IPT structure.  
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external customers
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and individual contributors.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • U.S citizen and ability to obtain US Government Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in supply chain management on a major program.
  • Strategic Sourcing experience including but not limited to creating and executing material strategies.

Salary Range: $88,700.00 - $133,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
