Department Overview

The Software Enterprise Sales team is a group within Motorola Solutions, Inc. that provides industry leading, next generation Citizen Engagement, 9-1-1 Call Taking, Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Jail Management, Public Service 311, and analytics software applications to the Public Safety and Public Service markets. No other company has the breadth and depth of technology and experience to deliver end to end public safety applications and mission critical voice and data communications systems.


Job Description

The Software Area Sales Manager (ASM) role is responsible for driving revenue for new software encompassing CAD, RMS, Call Handling and Cloud Service account development for the Northeast Region.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively develop significant software project opportunities encompassing a wide range of products and services (core, cloud and emerging technologies).

  • Develop strong, trusted advisor relationships with key decision makers and influencers within and outside of public safety; Governor, Chief of Staff, Mayor, CIO, and other elected officials in order to understand and influence funding. Interact with Senior customer level and consultants/lobbyists; work independently under limited direction

  • Responsible for the strategy and execution of the sales team which includes but not limited to: hiring, developing, and coaching a team of enterprise level sales professionals.  Interface with all team members in a way that drives business results and motivates the proper activity

  • Effectively lead internal teams on critical projects and issue resolution with clear direction and purpose

  • Maintain target Customer intelligence data in Motorola CRM system Provide timely & accurate sales forecast

  • Drive strategies with government customers for Motorola success in the bid environment

  • Be responsible for achieving both order and revenue financial performance for territory by creating and maintaining a healthy team pipeline.

  • Network with key Motorola Solution’s work partners including; presales, solution engineers, system integration, support team, marketing; product management, sales operations, order/credit management to ensure your territory objectives are met.

  • Accurately forecast territory order and revenue numbers on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis

  • Leverage territory promotions and incentives to drive current quarter revenue targets.

  • Conduct joint end user sales calls as a method of coaching and training

  • Function as a coach/consultant to Sales Team to drive efficiencies and contributions

  • Be aware of competition and technology disruptors that may impact your territory and partner community

  • Understand Motorola Solutions contract terms & compliance requirements

  • Must be willing to travel 50%.

Specific Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of sales/public safety experience OR 9+ years of sales/public safety experience

  • Seeking 5+ years of documented track record of sales performance within a technology environment

  • Knowledge and experience with CRM systems, specifically Saleforce.com

  • Highly motivated and results oriented

  • Excellent negotiation skills
