About you and this role

An exciting opportunity for a Customer Manager within Dow's NAA Polyurethanes Mobility Science team could be the right choice for you! This position has a preferred location of Midland, MI or Marietta, GA, however virtual office (within commuting distance to Detroit, MI) can also be considered.

With our backward integration into basic feedstocks, we’re able to provide the highest level of product quality and tailor reactivities and mechanical performance to the most demanding requirements for both internal combustion engine vehicles and next generation battery electric vehicles!

In this role, you will be responsible for managing sales of medium to large customers and OEMs with the key objective to maintain and grow in alignment to the sales/marketing plan. You will be responsible for tactical tasks supporting account management, such as generating leads, managing sales analytics, fixing the technical problem of a customer, giving support on the phone to a customer, etc. The scope is regional and but will require global alignment for our global customers. 

You will be part of the PU Mobility team in North America, primarily focusing on Automotive customers and applications, including the rapidly growing Electric Vehicle sector.

We are looking for someone who is energetic, proactive, and has a high bias for action. You will engage with customers to understand their needs and drive innovation to generate customer value. The ability to establish trust, credibility and build strong relationships with key cross functional contacts at assigned accounts is a must. This should be coupled with outstanding selling skills in order to secure and accelerate top line growth and profitability improvement at major key accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage account portfolio and prepare and implement sales plans.
  • Lead and coordinate customer relationships working to understand customer needs and identify potential new clients.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to build marketing plans and collect and utilize market intelligence to shape the sales/marketing plan, market research and mapping.
  • Lead and conduct negotiations, implement price changes, and develop long term contract agreements.
  • Manage sales contracts following Dow guidelines and legal requirements according to each region and country.
  • Execute and implement sales and marketing plans and deliver business goals of volume and value.
  • Deliver growth, including cross business opportunities.
  • Use CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool and other internal tools DSR (Diamond Systems Reporting), CMT (Contract Management Tool), Smart Pricing at “expert” level.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant working experience.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with Automotive OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturer) or Tiers.
  • Commercial Acumen: Previous commercial/customer-interfacing related experience.
  • Sales Process: Prior Sales experience including demonstrated ability to identify and deliver cross-business sales.
  • Sales Analytics Tools: Proficiency in CRM, DSR, OMP, SmartPrice, & Microsoft Office.
  • Communication: Fluency in English, strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Customer Relationship Building: Ability to prioritize in-person relationship building.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Prioritization: Ability to maximize business results.
