The Director, Performance Marketing (US Legal Consumer) is responsible for leading the development, messaging and deployment of digital marketing strategies to drive growth in awareness of, and engagement with, Law Firm Advertisers and legal self-help services on FindLaw’s suite of legal consumer websites (FindLaw.com, Superlawyers.com, Lawinfo.com, and Abogado.com). This role requires a deep understanding of all digital marketing channels, including Paid Advertising, SEO, Social and Affiliate/Partnership Marketing (and more). This role requires a strong command of data analytics and digital marketing tools to make drive FindLaw’s consumer demand generation strategy, and years of experience leading diverse teams, developing, managing, and implementing a robust set of performance indicators, advocating for strategic investment, briefing executive stakeholders on strategy, maximizing yield, and managing partnerships with internal/external stakeholders.

About the role

In this opportunity as Director, Performance Marketing (US Legal Consumer), you will:

  • Lead high-performing teams to achieve key business results while providing exceptional coaching, mentorship and support. 
  • Develop and implement comprehensive consumer marketing strategies to drive product performance, retention and brand awareness for our suite of online properties. 
  • Leverage expertise in diversified audience sourcing (SEO, PPC, Social, Affiliate etc.) to optimize channel mix, maximize yield of consumer ad spend, while developing and maintaining audience quality standards
  • Partner effectively with Product Management, Audience, Analytics and Technology to support new and existing Attorney Advertising products, and direct-to-consumer legal self-help partnerships. 
  • Assist internal Sales and Marketing teams to position the strength of legal consumer audience and support sell-through of law firm ad inventory
  • Commit to and foster a team culture of continuous testing and learning through data gathering, experiments and pilots. 
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitors to identify adjacent and new opportunities for growth and improvement.  
  • Monitor and concisely report to leadership on key performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement. 
  • Deliver crisp, clear digital marketing performance reports and presentations to leadership.   
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest marketing trends, tools, and best practices to ensure our strategies remain innovative and effective.  
  • Develop & foster relationships with external vendors, agencies and/or affiliate partners to diversify audience sourcing
  • Identify and capitalize on synergistic opportunities to maximize yield of consumer marketing spend between a high “Do-It-Yourself” intent audience, and a high “Find a Lawyer” intent audience
  • Develop business cases, advocate for strategic investment, and regularly report on progress to a Senior Executive Audience 

About you

You're fit for the role of Director, Performance Marketing (US Legal Consumer) if you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred. 
  • 10+ years of experience in leading full funnel marketing strategies to a consumer audience, with a focus on performance marketing (Paid, SEO, Social, Email etc.) and conversion.
  • Demonstrated success of forecasting and managing a $10M+ performance marketing budget, with clear evidence of impact to customer/business
  • Demonstrated success in working with Technology to implement performance marketing improvements on enterprise site properties (50M+ annual users)
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing performance marketing strategies that drive growth and engagement.  
  • Proven experience managing teams, through strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated history of retaining key talent and maintaining high employee satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated success in working with Executive stakeholders to advocate for strategic marketing investment, develop financial/performance reporting, and track/report on marketing impact
  • Very strong command of digital marketing channels, tools and analytics 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
