Job Summary
The Certified Surgical Technologist organizes, directs, and performs activities related to instrumentation, sterilization, and supplies that are utilized for patient care in the operating room

This posting reflects multiple positions in the CVOR.

*$15,000 Sign On Bonus with 2 year agreement after orientation and $3,000 relocation bonus if moving 75 or more miles to Lubbock*

Job Specific Responsibilities

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

• Prepare the operating room for incoming surgeries
• Assisting surgeon in the operating room
• Inventory surgical instrumentation and supplies prior to an operation
• Recount surgical instruments and supplies at the end of an operation
• Sterilize equipment and stock up on necessary supplies
• All other assigned duties related to attending the operating room

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• Basic Life Skills Certification (BLS); must obtain within the first 30 days of hire into the role
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery- Certified (TS-C) of Certified First Assistant (CFA)

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of clinical standards and practices of surgical technology
• Ability to use hand quickly with precision
• Effective communicator; Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Good listening skills to comprehend and quickly respond to the needs of the surgeon and surgical team
• Keen attention to detail
• High degree of responsiveness to changing schedules and priorities throughout the day

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

This role will interact closely various departments and committees within the hospital

Physical Capabilities

Work is demanding and requires ability to push, pull, and lift, up to 50 pounds.
Requires lots of walking and extended periods of time standing and/or sitting. Effective communication with physicians and OR staff is critical. Near visual acuity required to work with documentation, instrument gauges, dials, and equipment indicators

Environmental/Working Conditions

This position is subject to varying indoor temperature changes. Work done intraoperative is performed in a high- risk area for exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biowaste hazards.
