#WeAreCrowdStrike and our mission is to stop breaches. As a global leader in cybersecurity, our team changed the game. Since our inception, our market leading cloud-native platform has offered unparalleled protection against the most sophisticated cyberattacks. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing over 1 trillion events a day with a petabyte of RAM deployed in our Cassandra clusters - and this traffic is growing daily. We’re looking for people with limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to developing and shaping our cybersecurity platform. Consistently recognized as a top workplace, CrowdStrike is committed to cultivating an inclusive, remote-first culture that offers people the autonomy and flexibility to balance the needs of work and life while taking their career to the next level. Interested in working for a company that sets the standard and leads with integrity? Join us on a mission that matters - one team, one fight.

About the Role
CrowdStrike Falcon Host is a two-component security product. One component is a “sensor”: a driver installed on client machines that observes system activity and recognizes malicious behavior, then provides on-box prevention capability and remote telemetry to the Falcon Host cloud. The sensor processes thousands of events per second to provide deep visibility into operations on the endpoint, and performs rich correlation and computation to identify malicious events and blocks malicious activity. The cloud component aggregates sensor telemetry for each customer’s network, correlates malicious behavior across multiple machines, and presents our customers’ operations teams with a prioritized summary of the threats detected in their environments.

This is a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) position on the Linux sensor engineering team. At CrowdStrike, SDETs and SDEs work together in combined engineering teams. SDETs are key contributors on the team, focusing on the quality of the sensor. SDETs use their strong software development skills to build effective tools, harnesses, and specialized tests to assure that quality goals are met for each new capability. SDETs also participate actively in design and code reviews, and collaborate with many engineering teams to assure end-to-end system functionality. As an SDET within the Linux Sensor team you will be focused on the validation of major telemetry and detection capabilities on the endpoint. You will collaborate with developers, enhancing our sensor and build test suites for sensor features, including both on-device testing and end-to-end validation. You will collaborate with multiple teams within engineering, and be expected to make significant contributions to the design, development, implementation, and quality of major development projects. Additionally, you will contribute to the test infrastructure itself by developing new tools to enable efficient testing of projects under development.

Success in this Role Means:

  • Reviewing feature code and measuring the quality of functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Breaking software systems in creative and useful ways.

  • Collaborating both within and across teams to deliver quality software.

  • Thriving with aggressive goals, challenging projects, and responsibility over quality.

  • Building elegant, robust, and reliable solutions for complex technical problems.

What You'll Do:

  • Understand the requirements of software projects and build system test plans appropriate to those requirements.

  • Understand the software architectures of the team deliverables; participate in design discussions.

  • Build automated tests and systems based on software architecture, integration points, and business goals.

  • Design, develop, verify, deploy and maintain test suites and frameworks, working collaboratively, with a bottom line responsibility for quality assurance.

  • Write clear and detailed bug reports when things break, and work with the team to identify and validate fixes.

  • Take ownership and be accountable for deliverables, both individually and when leading a team.

What You’ll Need:

  • 5+ years of hands-on SDET/test automation development experience with a passion to find bugs

  • A computer science background with a deep understanding of fundamental computer science concepts such as data structures, algorithms, concurrency, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience with CI/CD frameworks

  • Experience and ability to write and automate tests and bug reports

  • Prior experience developing code in Python and/or other scripting languages

  • Be able to read & understand C/C++ code.

  • Team player – demonstrated ability to communicate, collaborate, and work effectively in a globally distributed team.

Bonus Points:

  • Prior experience working with low-level code, or any Linux module development.
