Job description summary:

We are searching for a Purchaser to join our Global Supply Chain Team in the UK. In this role you are responsible for ensuring all materials & services are purchased in compliance with Greif policy & procedures. Our Purchaser is also the primary contact for all purchasing related matters and ensures procure to pay process is completed efficiently.

Key responsibilities:

  • Negotiates pricing, terms & contracts for materials & services required locally, but not covered by Strategic Sourcing, Logistics or other approved departments
  • Ensures purchasing is compliant with Greif policy & local legislation
  • Update supplier details, pricing, contracts, catalogues and/or leases as required in various systems
  • Raise Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) when supplier performance issues are identified and ensure all local SCARs are closed out in a timely manner
  • Ensure suppliers are correctly approved and regular evaluations are completed as required
  • Identify & mitigate supply & lead time issues and/or risks
  • Administer the purchase of indirect materials & services and ensure approval flows comply with Greif Approval Authority Matrix
  • Resolve pricing issues & support other departments to resolve issues impacting invoice/credit matching
  • Ensure INR/RNI balances current & manageable
  • Reduce invoices uploaded by Greif & invoice touches required before payment
  • Investigate & eliminate non-compliant payments
  • Support internal & external auditing of purchasing processes
  • Review reports & maintain files and other administrative paperwork as required
  • Interaction with internal customers, suppliers and colleagues as required
  • Perform other duties as required and capable to complete from time to time

 

Education and Experience;

  • Preferably degree level qualification in Purchasing, Supply Chain or related subject
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience as Buyer, Purchaser, Planner or Admin role preferably in manufacturing industry

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Fluent in local language & good understanding of written & spoken English
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and individually without supervision
  • Good understanding of ERP systems, purchasing software (e.g. Coupa) & Microsoft office suite
