Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Benefits Specialist to join our HR team. In this role, you will manage and administer employee benefits programs, ensuring they align with our company’s mission and objectives. Your expertise will help support our Canadian operations, with opportunities to contribute to our growing presence in the USA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-cycle benefit administration (to include, but not limited to employee enrollment, on-going system maintenance, disability management, Leave of Absence, terminations, severances, etc.)
  • First point of contact in handling and troubleshooting all employee benefit inquiries
  • Work in conjunction with the carrier and broker during annual contract negotiations and premium renewals
  • Assist with the maintenance and testing of the HRIS and other systems, maintenance of the employee benefits intranet site, and with benefits and wellness initiatives
  • Handle the monthly benefits billing and reconciliation process in conjunction with the Finance department
  • Handle all benefit updates (Plans; premium changes; and communication updates to the employee population)
  • Handles all benefit updates provided by the benefit broker and/or carrier as well as legislative/ federal changes
  • Responsible for providing recommendations to the HR team and to Senior Management on efficiency changes and identify gaps or enhancements to benefits platform
  • Champion company core values and other company programs
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for compliance requirements as it relates to the Affordable Care Act reporting (Employees & IRS)
  • Manage the annual North American Open Enrollment process


Qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma with a focus on Human Resources.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a benefits-specific role.
  • Membership with a professional Human Resources organization (such as HRPA or SHRM) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
