POSITION: Process Lead

LOCATION: Indianapolis

REPORTS TO: Unit Manager

The Process Lead utilizes knowledge of process and manufacturing practices, along with related experience to act as a prime technical resource and is responsible for the development and implementation of production planning, troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operating performance in the areas of production, safety, quality, and reliability. In addition, incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and providing direction in the work activities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support regarding facility safety initiatives when designing and/or redesigning work processes or equipment to eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Support safety and quality initiatives, including performing and assisting in investigations.
  • Understand chemical and process safety requirements in the plant.
  • Ensure all personnel, including contractors, comply with all plant safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with incident and accident investigation including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and subsequent Corrective Actions.
  • Ensure workforce compliance with all plant quality procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure production activities are performed in accordance with ISO and GMP requirements.
  • Participate in customer visits and audits as appropriate.  
  • Ensure compliance with all plant productivity requirements.
  • Coordinate all necessary daily Preventative & Reactive Maintenance requirements.
  • Offer new ideas and think outside-the-box.
  • Ensure team adaptability, flexibility, and readiness to change.
  • Support plant cost control and Continuous Improvement initiatives and measures.
  • Coordinate/Support Plant Loss Accounting (OEE) systems.
  • Support cross functional department initiatives where appropriate.
  • Monitor KPI and Standard Worksheets in the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with all plant rules.
  • Ensure operations personnel are accountable to their job requirements.
  • Professionally lead and manage production requirements with direct reports.
  • Create environment conductive to shift teamwork and with other leads.
  • Participate and/or lead improvement teams.
  • Coordinate completion of operations employee training programs.
  • Work with area leads to ensure skill block needs and training requirements are met for department.   

Qualified candidates will have:

  • B.Sc. degree in a process related engineering discipline (Chemical or Mechanical) or equivalent in experience and education.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as an Engineer (or equivalent in experience and education) involved with process troubleshooting, project development and implementation. Must have experience involving process automation, preferably with formal training or basic knowledge of computer/PLC operations.
  • Sound overall knowledge of:
  • Corn Wet Milling and Refining manufacturing and equipment (other food processing experience considered).
  • Company and/or generally accepted design and construction standards.
  • Company and regulatory rules, policies, procedures in the areas of GMP, Quality, Environmental Management and Health & Safety.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a safe working environment, including a working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated high degree of sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation in handling complex technical assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Assertive, creative, energetic, and positive thinking.
  • PC literate with word processing, database, and spreadsheet experience.
  • Supervision and leadership experience in manufacturing facility.
