Nanyang Business School competes with top business schools worldwide to attract graduate students from diverse backgrounds to join its graduate programmes. The Graduate Studies Career Development Office (“GSCDO”) is an instrumental part of NBS’s Graduate Studies division, and aims to provide world-class career services to post-graduate students to develop them into career-savvy professionals and in helping NBS’s post-grad students find the ideal job after graduation. The position holder will be part of the GSCDO team. The key purpose of the role is to provide world-class career services to NBS’s graduate students, manage employer relationships in key sectors, and source for suitable positions for NBS’s graduate students.

The position holder is responsible for leading and driving employer engagement with companies in Singapore and international markets, to bring jobs for 900 students.

Responsibilities:

1. GSCDO leadership:

  • Engage in team leadership to problem-solve GSCDO’s strategy, including identifying and introducing strategic initiatives for GSCDO that will lift the level of career services for all GS participants.

  • Lead the operationalisation of new strategic initiatives for GSCDO, including leading team of existing GSCDO sector consultants to launch these initiatives.

  • Engage with the GSCDO team in providing multi-faceted career workshops, networking events, company presentations, etc.

2. Drive business development and employer engagement to secure full-time jobs and internship opportunities in Singapore and globally:

  • Identify global career opportunities for graduate students, and develop strategies to engage key hiring companies in priority markets.

  • Develop tiering and engagement of companies in key markets, with view to securing full-time jobs, internships and industry projects for students.

  • Identify and build strong partnerships with recruiters and hiring managers globally, particularly in key hiring sectors.

  • Work closely with internal NTU/NBS stakeholders such as Associate Deans, Academic Directors, Program and Management Office, NTU Career Office, Alumni Affairs Offices, Development Offices to source for full-time jobs and internship placements from existing and new industry contacts.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of market factors relative to employer organisations in international markets.

  • Cultivate relationship with alumni in key international markets, particularly in key hiring sectors, to help pipeline full-time jobs and internships for students.

3. Drive analytics and ranking metrics:

  • Analyse employment data of graduate students and deliver actionable insights to improve employment outcomes for students.

  • Provide leadership to GSCDO Career Leads in implementing best practices to improve outcome of ranking for NTU and for NBS programmes.

  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency of data capture for tracking of employment and for ranking.

4. Thought Leader for all international roles:

  • Be the key thought partner to GSCDO Career Leads in areas of understanding employers and employment trends.

  • Support NBS endeavors in international markets e.g., sourcing for industry projects and managing industry visits.

5. Provide student counselling to give insights into sectors/ countries:

  • Develop calendar of recruitment activities to ensure pipeline of roles are availed to all post-graduate students.

  • Place students in their desired roles (full-time jobs and internships).

  • Monitor student’s performance and growth during internships and prepare to intervene with win-win solutions for both student and industry partner.

6. All other tasks assigned to role.

Requirements:

  • Degree from a top-tier global business school is required.

  • Good knowledge of practices and hiring mandates of companies across different sectors in Singapore and in key international markets.

  • At least 10 year’s work experience, possessing strong and deep networks with hiring companies.

  • Proven track record of business development including internal and external successful collaborative and leadership experience.

  • Work experience in international markets will be a distinct advantage.

  • Outstanding ability to manage senior stakeholders, as well as interacting with people of varying levels and backgrounds.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills, including ability to deliver high impact presentations to senior executives.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Chinese and English as the key portfolio of this role is to manage and oversee the Greater China Market which involves liaising with employers and post graduate students for job placements directly.

  • Takes initiative and is a good team player.

  • Meticulous with good eye for details.

  • Able to work under tight deadlines.
