COUNSEL, SPACEPORT INFRASTRUCTURE 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expert legal guidance on matters related to developing infrastructure at SpaceX’s spaceport in South Texas (and other locations)—acquisition and development of land, construction of space/airport-type facilities and accommodations, transportation, energy and power generation, water supply
  • Draft and negotiate land purchases, easements, rights-of-way, leases and real estate transaction documents
  • Advise on municipal law, and county and State requirements related building and permitting water, power, communications and waste water treatment utilities  
  • Advise on Federal environmental and Department of Transportation requirements associated with development of space/airport-type infrastructure   
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to brief county, State, and Federal regulators on applicable matters
  • Negotiate complex construction and vendor contracts related to space/airport infrastructure development

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor degree
  • Active licensed attorney
  • 5+ years of experience with real estate, land and/or infrastructure development issues

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge and/or experience with natural gas project development, power generation contracts and operations, Texas Railroad Commission requirements for oil and gas operations, mineral rights agreements
  • Experience with projects involving U.S. Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and/or Department of Transportation Section 4(f) process

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to travel occasionally to the different SpaceX offices for a week at a time
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:          

Counsel: $190,000.00 - $245,000.00/per year     

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
