We are looking for a skilled rock mechanic, or mine engineer, to monitor and analyse ground deformations in Malmberget Mine, one of the largest mines in the world. You will work together with a multidisciplinary team using direct and indirect methods, providing expert advice and reporting to support our operation and our urban transformation team. Your role

As a Rock Mechanic, your primary responsibility will be to forecast and monitor ground deformations above ground using a variety of methods. You will provide expert advisory reports and support various areas of LKAB with your knowledge. In this role, you will:

• Monitor ground deformations directly using GPS and indirectly with instruments like InSAR, Fotogrammetri, Orthofoto, and LiDAR.

• Analyze and report your findings to both internal stakeholders and external authorities.

• Offer expert advice on ground deformation issues and support operational planning.

• Contribute to the improvement of work methods for enhanced efficiency in the Malmberget operations.

• Working in a geotechnical drilling campaign.

What you bring

We are looking for someone who can combine technical expertise with effective communication and teamwork. To succeed in this role, you should have:

• Relevant university degree, such as rock engineer, civil engineer, geologist, or similar.

• Hands-on working experience in rock mechanics, with a focus on deformation and subsidence control.

• Strong analytical skills and experience in monitoring methods and software.

• The ability to report and present findings clearly to a range of audiences.

• Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Swedish is desirable but not a must.

• A valid driver’s license (equivalent to Swedish Class B).
