POSITION TITLE: Office Assistant II TEMP
STATUS: Part Time, Temporary
DEPARTMENT: Financial Aid/Veterans Affairs
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

REPORTS TO: Coordinator, Financial Aid; Coordinator, Veterans
PLACEMENT: Grade 103
MINIMIUM PAY RATE: $18.14 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: 
This position serves as the initial contact for students and parents providing general interpretation, advising and resolution of problems with their financial aid eligibility. Position will be cross trained and may work within the Financial Aid Office and/or Veterans Resource Center, based upon the needs of the office.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
1.    Assist students, parents, supporters, staff, and faculty concerning all aspects of financial aid/veterans via phone, email, Live Chat, and in person.
2.    Schedule appointments for Financial Aid/Veterans staff.
3.    Determine what documentation is required from the student and verify student files are complete. 
4.    Scan all documents that are submitted to the Financial Aid/Veterans Office.
5.    Maintain a high level of confidentiality and protect student information in compliance with FERPA and HEA laws.
6.    Monitor and maintain inventory of all FA/Veterans forms.
7.    Perform related duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
1.    High School diploma or equivalent.
2.    Two (2) years of general office experience.
3.    Effective verbal and written communication skills, and ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population.
4.    Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
5.    Excellent customer service skills.
6.    Ability to function as an effective team member and support and adapt to change.
7.    Must not have any student loan in default.
8.    Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
9.    Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
1.    Experience working in a higher education setting.
2.    Experience working in a Financial Aid Office.
3.    Experience with Ellucian Colleague and Workday systems. 
4.    Knowledge of ImageNow Software.
5.    English, Spanish and/or other languages verbal and written communication proficiency. 
6.    Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
1.    Normal office physical demands.

• Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.
