How will you make a difference?
The Advanced Lead Engineer will provide technical expertise while maintaining responsibility for various aspects of the design, development, validation testing, application and reliability of turbochargers and turbocharger system components in support of current and future engine technology products. This position is also responsible for the coordination of schedule and budget for these activities, as well as the communication of project status to cross-functional stakeholders.
What do we want to know about you?
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical, Aerospace or related engineering field
Minimum 5 years professional experience related to the design, validation, application or field service of mechanical components or systems
Demonstrated understanding and experience related to typical design and validation processes such as FMEA and tollgate-style review (PPAP, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel
Confident ability to present technical details to an audience of peers and expert reviewers
Ability to work constructively in a fast-paced, team environment and accommodate shifting priorities
Willingness to travel (10%)
What will your typical day look like?
Act as the design lead or provide guidance for the definition of component design and validation plans to deliver fully validated products.
Leads Turbocharger Reliability and Life Cycle Cost projects while collaborating with engineering management to develop strategies and project plans.
Work with cross functional teams to support development and production ramp up of new turbocharger products
Conduct all tasks with an intent to deliver per defined project schedule and budget, and provide timely and accurate communication related to performance versus schedule to project stakeholders and leadership.
Oversee test planning, execution, and reporting for testing occurring at a variety of sites, potentially including external vendors, internal labs and on engines both on-site and in the field.
Conduct all tasks with an intent to deliver per defined project schedules and maintain ownership for communication related to performance versus schedule.
Provide input to senior engineers and management for effective strategic technical development.
Travel as needed (approximately 10%) to support testing activity at other Wabtec locations, customers, external vendor sites or other remote testing locations.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
