Position Summary
Position oversees the daily activities of the clinical support services, supervises clinical support staff, oversees personnel matters, and acts as liaison between the clinical support and division/department business staff through sound business and optimal staffing practices.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises a team of three or more clinical support personnel, including but not limited to clinical support specialists, transcriptionists and pre-certification coordinators.
- Oversees all business activities of the clinical consult office, facilitating the creation and implementation of policy and procedure, office practices, clinical flow patterns and assists in the budgeting process.
- Interviews and hires applicants for positions, supervises training of new employees, conducts job evaluations, job performance counseling and makes salary recommendations.
- Assists with training and with maintenance of staff certifications and compliance, including but not limited to HIPAA and Environmental Health & Safety.
- Provides direction and evaluations of clinical support staff.
- Maintains job descriptions for clinical support positions, assists in the interview and selection of employees, facilitates resolution of personnel problems, manages staff scheduling and acts as a liaison and advocate for all consult office employees.
- Maintains all policy and procedure manuals, financial and various business records and personnel documents.
- Generates and distributes various reports such as monthly quality assurance reports, case volumes, workflow analysis and other reports requested.
- Oversees the purchasing of small equipment and supplies, including the business and clinical areas.
- Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisor meetings and attends clinical support meetings as requested.
- Manages clinical support quality assurance programs, fields and formally addresses customer complaints and develops solutions to reported problems.
- Researches and recommends new methods and procedures to improve current clinical support service capabilities, quality and standards.
- Identifies inefficient workflows, develops and proposes solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assists appropriate personnel in the creation, implementation and maintenance of various databases and maintains financial database for the consult service.
- Assists with strategic planning and generation of business plans.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated communication organization, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of accounting, finance, personnel, basic office skills, office systems and abilities in understanding strategic planning.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in business administration or a related field plus two years of experience in a health care office setting, including at least one year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling four years.

Salary Range
$22.78 - $34.21 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
