Position Summary

Under general supervision and technical guidance, the person in this position is responsible for the delivery of multiple functions and activities to support one or more enterprise applications to units across the University. Functions include application use case analysis to ensure application configuration meets business needs, performing configuration and administration to assigned applications, consultation on application capabilities and best practices, impact analysis of upgrades/changes, incident management, vendor management, and quality assurance/testing support. The person will also support efforts to increase adoption of assigned applications as needed. The Application Analyst II will possess a range of systems analysis and technical skills, coupled with strong customer service. The Application Analyst II will work with a team of technical staff within the Washington University IT organization and schools to ensure that WashU IT services stay aligned with University initiatives that include research, teaching, and administrative objectives.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Planning & Analysis

  • Partner with university stakeholders to understand key use-cases and requirements.
  • Perform moderately complex research, analyze technology, consult vendors, and apply best practices to design technical solutions by utilizing systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine functional specifications. 
  • Evaluate potential risks to the service and applications, develop mitigation plans and recommendations, facilitate decisions. Typically related to vendor provided application/system enhancements or new implementations.

Operational Support Activities

  • Advise end users on application best practices and functionality.
  • Respond to and resolve moderately complex incidents/requests submitted by customers utilizing critical thinking skills and functional application system knowledge.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of assigned applications.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to services, solutions, and applications.

Intake, Release Management & Product Enhancement

  • Plan, review, coordinate, and socialize impact of vendor managed application upgrades for moderately complex projects.
  • Engage regularly with vendors to understand application product release roadmaps and functionality, along with any impacts to customers and existing configuration; partner with leadership to manage the vendor relationship to ensure continuous support is maintained.
  • Support contract renewal and licensing activities as needed.
  • Validate, test, and implement solutions, new features and functionality.
  • Develop moderately complex  test plans as needed to ensure solutions identified will meet business requirements.

More About This Job

This position will provide system administration, systems analysis, and configuration management for the portfolio of applications within the Facilities Planning and Management space for the Danforth Campus – which includes operations in Work Order Management (Maximo), building access (CCURE), geospatial systems (ArcGIS), as well as other systems that support maintenance and utilities operations of the campus.  The person will work with a team of other Application Analysts, Business Analysts and technical developers, as well as Zone Managers and other business stakeholders within the Facilities department to handle day to day operational defects or enhancements of these systems. Without the support of this resource there could be a significant reduction in stabilization, support, and administration for these integral enterprise applications.

Salary Range

$65,900.00 - $112,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
