The Manager, LOA is a leader of the Leave Management team and subject matter expert overseeing and managing all aspects of leave programs within the organization. This position is responsible for understanding and managing the end-to-end leave process and applicable policies for associates.  Ensures that escalations, requests from leaders and HR partners are addressed.  Serves as the main contact with our Third-Party Administrators and brokers. Leave plans and policies include, but are not limited to, Short Term Disability (STD), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Military (USERRA), employer sponsor paid and unpaid LOAs, interactive process for accommodation requests and state and local safe and sick time and leave laws across the US.

What You Will Do

  • Program Management: Administer and manage all leave of absence programs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

  • Serves as a liaison between TPA and business to resolve complex leave inquiries and escalations and provide guidance on established processes.

  • Audit Third-Party Administrator’s (TPA) end-to-end leave process to ensure adherence to agreed upon SLAs and policies.

  • Access TPA’s system(s) to research issues and provide in-depth responses and training.

  • Work closely with parties within and outside of own job function, which may include internal stakeholders, and external customers or vendors to ensure seamless coordination and communication regarding leave of absence cases.

  • Compliance: Ensure all leave of absence policies and procedures comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and other relevant laws.

  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees on leave of absence policies and procedures.

  • Team Management:  Manages team of leave associates and provides development and direction for team projects. Sets goals and objectives for associates to drive the achievement of operational results. Ensures LOA policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers, and stakeholders.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • 7+ years of relevant experience managing leave of absence and accommodation processes required

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding ADAAA, FMLA, Military, and company leave policies for Parental, Personal, Sabbatical, and WC leaves required

  • Full understanding of LTD and STD plan designs and pay structure preferred

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required

  • Experience using Workday preferred

  • People management experience; including goal setting, regular feedback, and performance evaluations, to drive employee engagement and productivity.

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and hold team accountable for same

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive employee information in a confidential manner

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, team environment

  • Willingness to embrace change, be flexible, and adapt quickly to changing priorities and assignments

  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize and effectively handle demands from multiple stakeholders
