We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager, Learning & Development - Retail to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the growth and development of our retail colleagues across all banners (Franchise and Corporate stores), with a specific focus on frontline teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Partner with the Business: Collaborate closely with retail stakeholders, including HR Directors, HR Business Partners, and business leaders, to deeply understand the evolving needs of our retail operations, with a laser focus on enhancing the customer experience.
  • Develop Targeted Learning Strategies: Translate business objectives and high-priority projects into comprehensive learning and development programs specifically designed for our diverse frontline retail colleagues, from cashiers to department managers.
  • Design Engaging Learning Experiences: Craft innovative and engaging training materials, including instructor-led modules, e-learning programs, and blended learning solutions, that address the unique challenges faced by our frontline retail teams.
  • Drive Measurable Results: Implement robust evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of learning programs against key performance indicators. This includes pulling reports, analyzing data, and working closely with the business to drive uptake in courses and demonstrate tangible business impact. You will also actively participate in working committee meetings to review progress, share insights, and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Champion a Culture of Learning: Provide guidance and support to colleagues at all levels within our extensive retail network, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in retail learning and development, actively seeking out and evaluating emerging technologies and approaches. This includes collaborating with vendors and internal cross-functional teams to understand upcoming innovations in learning and AI and proposing relevant solutions to the business.

This is what success looks like in this role:

  • Collaborating with HR business partners, business leads, and subject matter experts to identify and implement learning solutions that address critical knowledge and skill gaps for frontline roles.
  • Developing and presenting compelling learning solution recommendations to client groups and key partners, gaining consensus and buy-in.
  • Enabling the delivery of high-quality training by developing facilitators through train-the-trainer workshops and providing ongoing coaching and feedback.

What You'll Need:

Experience: 3-5 years of proven demonstrated experience in developing and delivering learning solutions tailored specifically for retail environments, including frontline teams (e.g., cashiers, department managers, store associates) as well as store support and distribution center roles. Proven ability to understand the unique challenges of a retail setting, such as high turnover rates, variable staffing levels, and the need for scalable, flexible learning programs that can be delivered across diverse store formats and geographic locations. Experience with both in-store training and digital platforms to ensure knowledge retention and improve overall store performance.

Education: Post-secondary education with a specialization in adult education, human resources, or organizational development. Demonstrated experience working directly with direct selling environments is highly desirable.

Passion for Retail: A genuine passion for the retail industry and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities it presents.

Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Results-Orientation: A proven track record of developing and delivering impactful learning solutions that drive measurable business results.

Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, generate insights, and translate them into actionable recommendations.

Consulting Skills: The ability to act as a trusted advisor to the business, proactively identifying learning needs and proposing innovative solutions, even when they fall outside of traditional approaches. This includes a keen understanding of when to leverage various learning modalities, such as e-learning versus in-person workshops, for maximum impact.
