Job Summary:
The Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for all financial activities supporting the Manufacturing Organization for the Americas’ Region of the Analytics business.  This will be a highly visible role as the business partner to the manufacturing function at Xylem’s Yellow Springs, OH and San Diego, CA facilities. He/she will support the Manufacturing Site Manager and their Production Management Team with all financial and operational reporting requirements. This role will be seen as a key contributor to the successful execution of all strategies to achieve business and functional goals set for the Manufacturing Organization for the Analytics’ Americas Region.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Finance Business Partner to the MFG organization with responsibly to drive actions for the achievement of all operational KPI’s and key financial metrics including cost savings, labor productivity, variable cost productivity and cost conversion
  • Support all FP&A and accounting related activities for the manufacturing organization including month end journal entries, financial and operational metric reporting including the updating of all required systems and creation of monthly commentary packages 
  • Reports out to the Director of Finance and MFG site leaders any significant monthly variances to budget targets with a key focus at understanding the root causes of financial performance
  • Track and report weekly on actual hours, standard hours, and absorption vs plan focusing on root causes for performance and development of action plans to improve associated financial metrics
  • Develop and update annual direct labor rates and manufacturing overhead cost pools separated between variable and fixed costs
  • Work with the Manufacturing Engineering and CI teams to ensure accuracy and timely updating of routings
  • Partner with the Continuous Improvement through direct participation in events while ensuring all projects savings are calculated per Xylem policy
  • Support the budget and forecast process through timely submission of key financial performance metrics including direct labor costs and productivity, standard/actual hours, manufacturing indirect cost center spend, and any other metrics as assigned
  • Drives internal controls and compliance with all Xylem’s financial policies through ensuring the MFG organization understands and is executing upon the required SOX controls
  • Actively communicates and engages with process and metric owners, manufacturing employees across all levels, and finance colleagues across the Americas Region
  • Ensure compliance to Xylem financial policies, internal control programs, and US GAAP

Requirements:

  • BA / BS degree in Accounting with minimum of 5 years experience of financial support of a manufacturing site or function
  • Master’s degree and/or CPA/CMA preferred
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles including experience working with routings, BOM’s and financial overhead rates
  • Working knowledge of accounting structures within an ERP system (Oracle and SAP strongly preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, financial consolidation systems like OneStream
  • Must exhibit a strong drive for results in a faster paced environment
  • Flexibility to travel up to 10% to support manufacturing location in San Diego, CA

Salary range:

$91,500.00 - $164,500.00
