Job Summary: 

Responsible for growing convention center revenue opportunities and maximizing occupancy levels by rebooking existing clients as well as winning new business.  Candidate will work closely with LA Tourism on large citywide programs as well as secure local clients within a short-term booking window. Candidate is required to develop and manage strong relationships with clients to position the convention center as a premier event location. Role requires strong partnership with internal leadership and other team members to develop and execute sales.

Essential Duties: 

  • Establish strong collaborative relationship with Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board to help drive citywide events to the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC).  Conduct site visits.  Manage booking and contracting process. 
  • Develop and implement strategic sales strategies to identify new business opportunities to drive increased revenues – including lead generation, site visits, proposals and contracts. Generate strong relationships with LA-based Event Planners, DMCs, LA Live campus partners, local hotel partners and all other hospitality partners to drive awareness of LACC opportunities to generate leads.
  • Strategically rebook annual local clients and manage contracting process.
  • Lead sales contracting process for all clients.  Initiate, formalize and negotiate License Agreements, including pricing and managing language updates.
  • Be knowledgeable in all-administrative and operational procedures of LACC and always maintain a high public and professional image in representing the Los Angeles Convention Center.
  • Be knowledgeable of the basic concept/operations of the Convention Center and work with all internal partners to effectively sell the facility.
  • Work in concert with other sales team members to maximize calendar bookings.
  • Work with VP of Sales & Marketing and overall team to:
  • Assist in developing LACC’s sales plan and ultimately executing said plan to include innovative initiatives to penetrate new markets to enhance usage and occupancy.
  • Continuously contribute to improving departmental efficiencies such as functionality in booking system, preparation of proposals, site visit procedures, etc.
  • Participate in weekly sale departmental and intra-departmental meetings.
  • Assist in developing sales plans and goals for annual department budgeting.
  • Participate in trade shows, sales missions, networking events, and F2F sales visits. 
  • Participate and support all ASM Global Corporate sales initiatives
  • Perform other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):

  • A minimum education level of: Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year)       
  • Area of Study:   Marketing, Business, Hospitality, or related field. (Additional years of experience may be substituted for college degree.)
  • Minimum of seven (7) plus years of related work experience. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospitality field.
  • Must be able to maintain good business relations with members of the overall sales team, clients, building partners, campus partners and all convention center departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and the ability to learn required business systems.
  • Experience with CRM system --- Momentus (EBMS/Ungerboeck) or similar platform a plus.
  • Must be able to work independently and drive results.
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Must possess exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Required variable work schedule such as late hours, early mornings, extended hours, holidays, and weekends.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate in office setting and moderate to high during events.

This is an onsite position that requires in-person collaboration with multiple departments and coverage of events from start to finish.

Pay Rate: $105,000 - $120,000 Annual Salaried/Exempt.
