HR Advisor

Office based in Coatbridge

Full Time, Monday to Friday 08.30-17.00, offering a salary of up to £35,000 depending on experience, plus great benefits.

Mears are looking for an enthusiastic HR Advisor to be based at our Coatbridge branch dedicated to our North Lanarkshire contract.

Mears has recently been awarded a contract from North Lanarkshire Council that facilitates continued investment in the North Lanarkshire community for the long-term. About the role:

As the HR Advisor you will be responsible for providing on the ground, accurate, influential, timely, advice, guidance, and support on a range of Employee Relations cases and matters to all Line Managers within our North Lanarkshire contract.  You will also be responsible for providing coaching and training where necessary to ensure Line Management capability of delivering professional people management standards in line with business requirements to ensure the smooth operational delivery of the Contract.  

You will report to the HR Business Partner and assist in providing a strategic HR service to senior managers, to foster a culture of empowerment within operational management to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture

What are we looking for?

We are looking a HR Advisor with excellent communication skills that will bring great energy and motivation to our North Lanarkshire team. Interpersonal skills are vital for this role, coupled with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders at different levels.

Your responsibilities & duties will include:

  • Provide detailed, pragmatic employee relations advice which includes disciplinary, absence management, grievance and performance.
  • Log and monitor all cases accurately and participate in case reviews to discuss complex cases
  • Dealing with a varied case load
  • Evaluate issues, patterns, and trends to provide insightful HR solutions
  • Guide, influence, support and empower managers through advice in order to identify, understand and implement effective and commercial solutions to employee relation issues.
  • Ability to risk assess and prioritise HR employee relation case work.
  • Maintaining appropriate recording/updating of all case documentation.
  • Identify trends, report and escalate as appropriate using in-house HR systems.
  • Lead on initiatives to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture Participate in regular case reviews with HR Team Leader to discuss complex cases, share information and best practice.
  • Support the HRBP in working proactively with our recognised Trade Union Unite
  • Work closely with wider HR Group to ensure a joined up seamless service.
  • Work collaboratively with the social value lead to support local recruitment ensuring the workforce is representative of the local community.

Role Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience as a HR Advisor is essential to the role, especially in the management of attendance.
  • Experience of working in an environment with Trade Unions
  • A high level of customer service as  this is the forefront of our business.
  • Ability to effectively utilise a range of software programmes.
  • Excellent communications skills at all levels both verbal and written.
  • CIPD level 3 or above

Previous use of Workday and other HR systems is desirable but not essential.
