About you and this role

The position is part of the Process Automation Discipline within TES (Technical expertise and support) organization, covering Process Automation Support and Sustain Team areas of responsibility relating to the support of process automation systems. The Support and Sustain personnel provide preventative maintenance and troubleshooting support for the global installed base of process automation systems (ABB servers, CROS, GPI, MES, etc). They also participate in projects, that provide MES and DCS system configuration, design and development for the implementation of new instances of these systems. Their key objective is to minimize plant downtime caused by process automation system failures, while providing services that are cost effective and sustainable. The candidate will be a team member of the Support and Sustain team working locally in Tarragona (Spain), supporting business partners.

Responsibilities

Students will be assigned meaningful and challenging activities, that will introduce them to the Process Automation Support & Sustain group at Dow, as:

  • Work as part of an integrated team to support Process Automation system applications, both in-house and commercial.
  • Troubleshoot process automation and network problems (software and hardware) to resolve process automation system problems.
  • Test and develop new applications to support chemical manufacturing facility process automation and process information needs.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance (PPM) and health checks on operating process automation systems.
  • Provide corrective support in response to a process automation system error condition or failure.
  • Complete small project work.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Automation.
  • Good communication (written and verbal) in English and Spanish is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), Microsoft Outlook is also recommended.
