Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Co-op Coordinator will provide administrative support for the mandatory cooperative education programs in the college. This support includes growing the employer base, supporting students as throughout their co-op employment, organizing employer engagement events, and engaging with employers.

The Padnos College offers undergraduate and graduate programs in several fields of engineering and occupational safety and health.  Building upon close ties with local industries, the college has a stable student population, currently approximately 1000 students, that is expected to grow. It has received national recognition for the integrated experiential learning, extensive laboratory experience, and practical preparation of our students in all of its programs.

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, business, or an appropriate discipline related to supporting the programs in the College is required.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in industry interaction, student support, event planning, and experiential learning.

Responsibilities – Essential Functions:

The Co-op Coordinator will provide administrative support for the college in the following areas:

  • Enhance industry relations and community engagement
  • Identify and develop new co-op/internship opportunities
  • Maintain strong relationships with current co-op/internship employers
  • Plan and coordinate on-site industry/student engagement events
  • Grow engineering and occupational safety and health employer network
  • Network with professionals from other universities to benchmark and grow best practices
  • Develop, with students and employers, learning events centered on the co-op experience
  • Provide administrative support for the experiential education vetting, tracking, and workflow
  • Advise students regarding educational and career planning and development
  • Assist students in professional conflict management

Responsibilities – Non-Essential Functions:

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.  May require work beyond the typical 40-hour work week and outside of the 8:00 – 5:00 work day.

CAMPUS: Grand Rapids

SALARY: Minimum Starting $49,000; commensurate with experience
