About The Role:

SharkNinja is looking for a self-driven Cost Engineer to develop “should be” cost models for both the Shark & Ninja new product lines.  SharkNinja prides itself on affordable product innovation, ease of use, and a" hyper" focus on the consumer.  The successful candidate will have an interest in product development, be curious about how things are made, and want to know the lowest cost a product can be made for.  The individual will work closely with the AD and NPD teams to define the lowest possible cost to make any given product.

Here are some of the exciting things you'll get to do:

  • Support getting a complete product definition created
  • Coordinate product details to generate a ballpark cost during the AD phase
  • Generate a should be cost that reflects the latest product definition and update at each Prototype build
  • Review CBOM’s from suppliers
  • Deliver reports or summary PowerPoint slides and share with the teams on where the cost is
  • Review all should be costs for accuracy
  • Generate a critical components list to work with supply chain to get quotes
  • Offer suggestions to the product teams on ways to design for lowest cost
  • Work with product teams to generate a tear down of competitive products to learn about materials, components, assembly methods and how key features work
  • Prepare weekly updates on projects and participate in regular calls with the China cost team
  • Participate in product reviews and hacks
  • Tearing down, debugging, and analyzing electro-mechanical products

Here are some of the things you'll bring:

  • BS in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering
  • 1-3 years experience in an engineering-related field preferably product development
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals and manufacturing processes such as injection molding
  • Experience in consumer products or similar high-volume production situations
  • Demonstratable analytical organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and relentless drive to identify the lowest possible cost of a product
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Knowledge of plastics, tooling, electronics, assembly methods, decoration processes, and packaging
  • Flexible, nimble, and working in an extremely fast-paced collaborative environment
  • Intermediate skills in Solidworks or CREO
  • Presentation skills, delivering clear summaries, takeaways, and opportunities
