The Manager of Accounting oversees month-end close activities for certain process areas partnering with finance and accounting staff to ensure a timely close with a high degree of accuracy and integrity in the company’s books and records. The Manager of Accounting also interprets and applies accounting concepts and policies, ensures internal control compliance, leads team meetings, and provides training and guidance, helps to identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives, conducts and leads the balance sheet review, and reviews the work of others within the accounting team.
The Manager of Accounting is responsible for, however not limited to:
Manages the accounting activities of the department which includes developing, interpreting, and implementing accounting policies and concepts
Partner’s cross-functionally with consolidations, financial systems, and FP&A teams to support month-end close and quarterly reporting requirements
Manages month-end close process to ensure all required journal entries and tasks are completed in a timely manner
Assists with auditor inquiries and requests
Conducts analysis of general ledger activity and accounting processes and makes recommendations on accounting methods and procedures
Manages accounting team members to facilitate prioritization of workload, on the job training, and the free exchange of ideas
Identifies opportunities for improvements and efficiencies and works to implement the necessary changes
Develops content for and leads accounting team meetings
Assists with recruiting, coaching, and evaluating team performance and effectiveness
Communicates effectively and build strong relationships throughout the organization
Proactively initiates business process improvements
Assists with special projects as needed
Qualifications & Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or equivalent in education and experience, CPA required
6+ years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility including supervising significant areas of accounting
Strong aptitude to understand technical accounting concepts under US GAAP and help ensure appropriate application of accounting decisions
Strong understanding of internal controls and financial reporting
Desire and ability to lead, mentor and develop staff
Advanced knowledge of Excel and strong analytical skills
Ability to independently organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and reach conclusions for recommendations
Ability to consistently meet deadlines while maintaining a high-quality product
Possess well-rounded business judgment to recognize and respond to cross-departmental needs
Possess good written and oral communication skills, decision-making and judgment
Demonstrates accountability to personal work product
Experience with Oracle (Preferred)
Salary Range: $110,000 - $123,000
