General Information:

In this role, you drive excellence in quality, delivery, and compliance for the supply base. Furthermore, you ensure global processes are understood and implemented by the SCM network. As Senior Quality Expert - Specialty chemicals - you will work closely with Hitachi Energy High Voltage Supply Chain, Technical Center, Group Product Service Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and the Global SCM team on all activities required to effectively support supplier quality requirements for assigned High Voltage commodities and suppliers. The focus will be on specialty chemicals for High Voltage products. In this role, you will:

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Suppliers` Qualification plans, production part approval processes, process / product verification efforts, quality system audits and supplier surveillance program

  • Plan and conduct the required supplier on-site audits including the assessment reporting to ensure compliance on global Hitachi Energy Supplier Quality requirements

  • Participate in supplier technical reviews meetings, approval process and internal NPI (New Product Introduction) process

  • Lead process improvement efforts using Hitachi Energy tools and procedures to drive process quality improvements and leverage statistical tools for evaluation of process capability on critical-to-quality (CTQ) part / component characteristics

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA), FMEA (Failure Mode & Effect Analysis) for process improvement, and preventive / corrective action as required

  • Address Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction based on customer, Hitachi Energy factories feedback and incorporate key critical-to-quality parameters in supplier processes

  • Assist SQEs, Product Engineering and key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence. Serve as best practice/quality resource, contributing towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility

  • Lead global activities, prior failure analysis (PFA) update and special process activities for Aluminum Casting and forgings

  • Closely collaborate with the Category teams to support the implementation of Category strategy (CIPS), Supplier Collaboration Initiatives and provide recommendations from supplier performance and capability perspectives (e.g: support for the supplier classification, new supplier selection, onboarding or de-sourcing recommendation)

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or relevant technical field from an accredited university or college.

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
     

  • Fluent English – capable to lead technical conference calls, read drawings and procedures in English

  • 10+ year previous experience in Supplier Quality or Manufacturing Process Quality (preferably with specialty chemicals)

  • Ability to work in cross functional and global team environments

  • Ability and willingness to travel 30% as required

  • Desired Characteristics
  • Master’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, or relevant technical field from an accredited college or university

  • Experience working with specialty chemicals for High Voltage Products and/or related processes experience working with suppliers in high-quality serial production volume.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; RCA methods, 8D

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to explain and deal with complexity

  • Demonstrated leadership, influencing and organizational skills

  • Lean Six Sigma trained ( green / black belt ) and certified or equivalent quality training and certification

  • Experience with APQP quality assurance tools and PPAP: Process Capability, Measurement Systems Analysis, Error Proofing, Statistical Process Control and FMEA

  • Demonstrated program management, technical aptitude, and a passion for quality
