Job Description Qualifications:

Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company’s Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) business unit has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Semiconductor Assembler to join our dynamic team in Sylmar, CA.

Spectrolab’s state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth’s orbit, as well as the International Space Station.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine production assembly operations on structural and semiconductor mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, equipment and accessories using manual operations

  • Performs the processes necessary for the fabrication and production of Solar Cells, including Photolithography, Cap Etch/Window Clean, Thinning, Lift-Off, Evaporation, Sinter, Saw-Dice, Lot Code, electrical testing, microscope inspection and Silicon Diodes.

  • Performs the processes necessary for growth of semiconductors, including operation of MOCVD vacuum system, Metal Organic material handling and X-Ray Diffraction.

  • Complete knowledge of shop processes to include Foreign Object Damage/Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing or assembly environment

  • Ability to read and interpret system prints and schematics

  • Experience soldering and terminating wiring

  • Basic computer experience and competency

  • Capable of lifting 20lbs or more on a frequent basis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years’ experience in wire stripping, crimping, soldering and welding

  • Experience in J-STD-001 Soldering

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate).

Summary pay range: USD $50,150 – $67,850
