Machine Shop Supervisors

Reporting to Value Stream Manager Components

Salary starting between 65,500.00 - 81,900.00

Location Oak Harbor WA.

POSITION SUMMARY:

IH&S Oak Harbor Production Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe and collaborative work environment for their team.  The supervisor is responsible for daily activities related to the support, production, and problem solving for their respective areas.   

EDUCATION I EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated success in manufacturing environment with three (3) years of increasing responsibility and leadership experience
  • Minimum High School diploma

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide support to all direct reports
  • Ensure team is meeting / exceeding their safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals
  • Conduct routine 1:1 meetings, provide career coaching, and frequent feedback on performance and behavior
  • Adhere to all company policies
  • Interview and train new hires
  • Experience with CNC Machining and Manual machining operation
  • Experience optimizing resource utilization and developing process improvements to increase efficiency while maintaining quality standards
  • Familiar with CNC programming and CAD software
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings
  • Knowledge of continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing Methodology
  • Facilitate Daily Management each day – use DM to drive team engagement and improvements
  • Identify obstacles and inefficiencies and propose ideas / solutions to resolve
  • Evaluate skills, training gaps, and business needs to focus training efforts
  • Provide team daily staffing assignments and guidance on daily work / priorities
  • Respond to safety concerns and proactively work to resolve potential safety issues
  • Support production team during the entirety of their shift
  • Implement visual management for scheduling and work cell stability
  • Own learning ladder program for department and keep associated documents updated
  • Encourage and promote teamwork, participation, and collaboration
  • Ensure weekly cycle counts are being performed
  • Investigate and resolve work order issues, material variances, quality issues, and inventory issues
  • Able to de-escalate conflict and remain objective and direct when dealing with disciplinary actions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capable of focusing on details with regard to products and problems over extended period of time
  • Visual acuity for reading computer screen and handwritten/typewritten documents
  • Speaking and hearing ability for telephone and in-person communications
  • Capable of mobility and travel
  • Able to travel via automobile, airplane, trains, or buses
  • Maintain composure and professional approach when dealing others
  • Ability to make decisions logically

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understand basic manufacturing Lean and Continuous Improvement principles: setup time reduction, inventory reduction, 5S, etc.
  • Must be fully functional in Microsoft Office and Outlook (including Excel). JDE experience is helpful.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrate ability to work well in a team environment. Show initiative and demonstrate leadership skills. Anticipate and prevent problems.
  • Possess technical aptitude and mental/physical/visual acuity. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communications.  Must understand with ability to write in English.

Total Rewards

The starting compensation for this position is $39.00 per hour. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
