Your role

With a strong pipeline of market leading deals in the mining and resources sector, the Allens M&A team is looking to grow. Based in Melbourne, you will have the opportunity to work with a range of Partners across our national resources practice including our Mining Sector Leader Igor Bogdanich for a variety of clients including several of the world's largest mining companies and infrastructure investors.  You will gain exposure to the most complex and interesting transactions in the market.

As an Associate or Senior Associate in our M&A – Mining & Resources team you will advise on:

  • Acquisitions and divestments in the mining, energy and resources sectors, including infrastructure and energy transition-related assets

  • Joint ventures, JOAs, shareholders agreements and farm-in arrangements

  • Matters in the critical minerals space, e.g. lithium and copper, on Australian and offshore projects

  • Other commercial contracts in the sector, including commodity offtake agreements

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. Hybrid working (60% in the office) is how we work, however flexibility matters at Allens, so if you are seeking hybrid working or are looking for flexibility, we would be happy to discuss what arrangements would work best for you.

About you

You will have:

  • Experience working in the mining resources sector at a leading Australian practice or international firm. This could be within an M&A team or a more Projects focused team with M&A exposure.

  • Experience advising on M&A transactions or Project development.

  • An enthusiastic interest in the sector, a willingness to learn and a growth mindset.

  • An ability to effectively manage large matters and play a key role as part of a team working on larger matters.

  • A willingness to build an understanding of clients and develop effective working relationships with them.

  • An ability to establish a professional profile and internal networks including across all our offices, as we work as an integrated team across jurisdictions.

  • A desire to learn, grow, network, mentor others.
